ORU Bracketology and rankings for 2023

The #1 seed is particularly important, because St. Thomas is in the Summit tourney, but ineligible for the NCAA tournament. So if they manage to win it, the regular season champ (or #2 team if St. Thomas was the regular season champ) gets the bid, according to this article: https://tommiesports.com/news/2022/1/27/mens-basketball-summit-league-basketball-championships-set-for-expansion-in-2023.aspx

St. Thomas must complete the five-year Division I transition period to be eligible for the NCAA Tournament. The earliest the Tommies could qualify is in 2026. If the Tommies were to win either the men's or women's tournament from 2023-25, then the regular season champion or highest-finishing team besides St. Thomas in the regular season standings would earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

From RealTimeRPI:

Year RPI
2011-12 48
2004-05 50
2007-08 54
2006-07 89

It looks like the lowest RPI was actually during Morrison's Senior year.

We're up to 30 on RealTimeRPI and 45 on the NET rankings.

Today's updated ESPN/Lunardi Bracketology has ORU as a 13 seed against Xavier. Way too early to be meaningful, but that would be a very tough draw. Xavier is 12-3 off a win against #2 UConn, and their only losses are to ranked teams - #12 Indiana, #8 Duke, and #6 Gonzaga.

ORU drops to #63 (from 42). Both New Mexico and Utah State lost Saturday, which negatively impacted our ranking. Liberty moved up to #56.

Utah State (by 23!!!) and Missouri St. both losing by double digits hurt a lot.

Joe Lunardi has a very-respectful TWELVE seed ORU taking on #5 Baylor in Orlando.

Yes please, for a variety of reasons.

College insider dropped us two this week from 6 to 8. That's tough when you are undefeated in your conference and you still lose ground. Says more about the conference this year than the team, I guess. Let's hope we win two on the road this week in ND and move up in the polls.
