With Mills I have learned read between the lines. It’s a telling story. Anyhow, bring on Coach Springmann!

Careful E-Man! You start making comments about us playing East Immaculate Christian, Omelette State, and Bemidji Tech, and you're going to get scolded. Bad boy! 1

theeagleman5 Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 Clearly the hiring of Paul Mills has been received in an underwhelming manner by WSU fans as proven by the Fan Poll shown above....just wondering what a similar poll in this board would say about the hiring of Russ Springmann as the new ORU Coach???.....hummmmm....guessing it's a VERY popular choice......

Old Titan Posted March 23, 2023 Author Posted March 23, 2023 I'll just add this to a thread that I'm looking forward to soon expiring: sounds like Coach is none too pleased that they shut off his phone so quick! I'm sure we can all relate, if you've ever left a job for greener pastures or been terminated: he's lucky he didn't have a security guard and someone from HR watching him clean out his office before escorting him to the exit.

theeagleman5 Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 Ticked because ORU turned off his phone?....please....that's how it works when you quit at any job.....and ya know....I guess maybe TheEagleman is a bit naive but isn't a SEVEN YEAR CONTRACT supposed to be exactly that....you give your word that you will coach our basketball team for the next 7 years?....i mean if ORU fired Mills then we would have to pay the remaining amount on the deal just like we did with Scott Sutton....that's the meaning of a signed contract...but guess that Coach Mills didn't really mean it......basketball coaches are getting like marriage partners.....they don't really take the vows seriously......TheEagleman does....but again I guess I am just naive.....just expected a little more out of a christian man like Paul Mills.....but that said I wish him well at Wichita State.....Go Shockers!! 2

Isn't this what we call situational ethics and it has permeated most areas of our culture for many years. People can say whatever and tell you what you want to hear but then do something completely different. I like Mills but in some ways we got played by him. 2

It seemed his decision was mostly based on the resources WS has available such as: NIL opportunities, money for helping players families (didn't know you could do that, but I guess you can), overall budget, etc. Also, he seemed to really put an emphasis on the passionate fans. I felt that was a little unfair, due to the fact that ORU students and fans really stepped it up this year in both volume and numbers. But overall, I thought he gave an honest, informative interview. I hope he does well but I think he is in for a rude awakening.

He said he wanted to build and grow our program. He did that. A better offer came along and his situation changed. I was hoping he would stick around longer as well, but I don't think he played us. I think he was 100% genuine when he said he wanted to grow our program and work towards a Final 4. I never once heard him promise us he would never listen to any other offers. 3
theeagleman5 Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 Thanks, Paul...and good luck! TheEagleman also has some fingers he would like to display....
