bballmangc
Hunter averaged 11.2 points shooting 58% from 3. That tells me he is very good at selecting shots (which will be a new concept for us). Obviously he had a great supporting cast at Patterson and did not need to shoot much. Let's hope the average does not come down too much if he is needed to shoot a little more. Plus the new distance of the 3 pt line. Plus more athletic defenders, plus increased speed of the D1 game which means less time to set up and get a shot off... ORUTerry
I don't disagree that any freshman will have to get acclimated to the speed of D-1 basketball and the relative size and ability of college opponents. But remember that McClintock has been playing against quality opponents during his year at prep school - players who are quasi-college players. The same can be said for Bell-Holter. Additionally, Hunter is a southpaw which should help him in getting his shot away - as well as his apparent ball handling skills which can create space. OKC Eagle
I'm sure the average will come down. My main point was that we may need him to be a little less selective in shooting and that, among many other things, will also bring the average down a little. Ideally, DBH, Morrison and others will score and take pressure off of Hunter so he can remain highly selective.
Dr. Cornelius
I highly doubt that Summit League defenders will be more athletic than Big East and ACC recruits.
jmg1984
im with the 6'7" or 6'8" forward crowd
theeagleman5
Honestly from what TheEagleman has seen of Summit League b-ball and considering the quality of the prep league McClintock was playing in....it might not be that big of an immediate step up for Hunter....the kid will should be close to 20 yrs old by the time the season starts in 2009....he will be fine if what we have seen on tape is legit....and what about Tim Morton?....that redshirt kid is 6-9.....can he contribute at power forward next year behind Ford?... ORUTerry
True... Some players can adapt quicker than others to the speed of the game (like Tutt and Green). McClintock and Bell-Holter will not be asked to shoulder a big load offensively. Hunter will not have the opponent's best defender on him - at least initially. theeagleman5
Yes, it certainly will be somewhat of a transition...especially early playing the likes of New Mexico, Missouri and Tulsa.....but hopefully by the time January rolls around, these guys will be up to speed.... darrenj
Hopefully have good news within the next 3 or 4 days and get at least 1 more swing guy added to the mix.
SOLO_Gold
I know we have talked about some recruit possibilities in the past but has anyone heard if Deaque Montreal is in the mix? This would put us over the top. Just checking Signed with Boise State http://www.idahostatesman.com/newsupdates/story/742290.html
Old Titan
Hopefully have good news within the next 3 or 4 days and get at least 1 more swing guy added to the mix. If we're talking juco, I would imagine at this stage of the game you're really just looking for someone who can contribute off the bench - it would appear our top seven or so guys are pretty much set: 1. Ford, 2. Bell-Holter, 3. Morrison, 4. Stokes, 5. Pearson, 6. McClintock, and 7. either Rogers or Holdman. It would be nice to get a juco "diamond in the rough" with some size who wouldn't get his nose out of joint about not being a starter. A blend physically between Marchello Vealy and Andre Hardy - someone who could rebound, play some interior defense if needed, and score just a little, either inside or out. If we could get 4-5 rebounds and 6-8 points a game out of this guy, it would be great...
darrenj
Would be a very good fit for next year and would be a top 5 or 6 guy. Hope it works out pretty soon as they need a little more help.

I could see a big man upsetting the ol' playing time apple cart - and that would be a good thing!
ORUTerry
Signing an 'impact' player - which is what a 5 or 6 player (starter or near starter) at this late date would be very unusual. Seems improbable....
wakeflip1
Didn't Shawn King sneak in right before the fall semester began.
theeagleman5
We need someone to give quality minutes in the front court....is Tim Morton that kind of guy?....what's the scoop on this 6'9" dude?...was he redshirted last season?....
