Trying my best to NOT read too much into my conversation with Sir Isaac yesterday (who, by the way, was very genuine and cordial...AND TALL), when he said he was really looking forward to next fall.

Also, I think it was Weaver who was giving him a hard time as he was grabbing some punch and a cookie at the snack table. I came to the rescue and said, "It's off-season bro." He said, "Yeah. Off-season!" 😆

Not a huge fan of NIL but it is here now so everyone has to adjust. Never know what drives a kid to a certain school.

I bet Obanor got a decent amount to stay at Tech for another year.

Someone brought up Gonzaga earlier and Timme is estimated at somewhere around $400 to $500 K for this season.

It is not a fun part of the process but is part of it.

I found his article online today, I'm sure the Gonzaga fans think the NIL money Timme is getting is worth it since it brought him back to the team for another year and with a win tonight another Final 4!!        Looks like a bargain actually!

Is Gonzaga's Drew Timme making more money in college than he would have as a pro?

LAS VEGAS — Gonzaga star Drew Timme has taken full advantage of the the new name, image and likeness landscape in college basketball. And he most likely wouldn't still be playing for the Bulldogs if it wasn't for NIL.

"NIL is a game-changer," Drew Timme's father, Matt Timme, told Gonzaga Nation. "If Drew would have been in this situation five or six years ago, he probably would have been gone by now. And it's not like we need Drew to go out and make money for his family. Fortunately for us, he's in a situation where what he's doing, he's doing it for himself."

In an interview with Fox Sports' John Fanta last September, Drew Timme said that through NIL deals he'll make more than the $200,000-$500,000 he would have made had he skipped his senior year in favor of turning pro. Timme has a $626,000 NIL Valuation, according to the website On3.com

Back in November of 2021, Timme inked a deal with Northern Quest Resort & Casino. Gonzaga's all-time leading scorer has also partnered with Walker's Furniture for two yearsDollar Shave ClubBeats by Dre, Continental Tire and Barstool Gonzaga.

"Back when Drew was assessing his options, I told him, you enjoy being where you're at, take advantage of it and finish your degree so you don't have to worry about going back to school," Matt Timme said. "The NBA and being a professional athlete will always be there. Your college time and your experience during your time in college will not, so I'm glad he's taken advantage of it to the fullest."

Timme has led the Zags to the Elite Eight of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Gonzaga plays UConn at 5:49 p.m. PT on Saturday night with a berth in the Final Four on the line.

Anybody have a clue what the terms of Springmanns' contract at ORU would be???...Just a guess by TheEagleman but is 5 years $2.5 million total in the ball park?....perhaps a bonus or two for Summit League titles and NCAA Tournament appearances?....what is the conjecture of those in the know???...:circle-logoi:

I for one certainly DO NOT know; this falls in the realm of conjecture:  I would imagine it's something more in line with where Coach Mills started, in the neighborhood of $200-$250,000 per year, and for five years at most, perhaps as few as three years.

Again, just a guess based on Mills' initial contract.

Coach Springmann a HUGE part of the Mills success story....one would hope that ORU gave him at least 4 years at closer to $500K per year.....but then again...it's not TheEaglemans' money.......Image result for Cosmo Kramer

I would say that OT is closer to reality than you (no offense intended).  Since Russell has not been a D-1 head coach before, I would think that the term is more three years than five years.  There may be incentives for a regular season championship, postseason championship and for winning NCAA postseason games.  Probably also incentives for GPAs and academic progress.  Once he has a year or two under his belt, I would expect either a rollover provision or a longer extension to ensure Russell continues to build a program that aligns with the University's mission and goals.  Like OT, this is all conjecture on my part.....I know nothing!

So which part is "like OT" - the "conjecture" part, or the "knowing nothing" part?

(rhetorical question; everyone knows the answer...)

Injury prone, and immature.  Likely to ring-chase with whatever school has the best returning players. 😉

Happy for Springmann and his opportunity to be the head coach at ORU.  So here is the big question: How long will it take Coach to win 30 games and go to the Big Dance?  Just kidding.  How long will it take him to lead ORU back to the NCAA tournament?
