WOW! Just got off the Tulsa site earlier today and that site is on meltdown over the Clarke recruiting!! Guess i missed a lot this weekend!! Not sure why Tulsa has been eliminated but i can promise you ORU has done nothing against NCAA rules and the staff put no pressure on his dad or Rotnei.

Wherever he goes it will be a family decision.

Of course no one will ever see Rotnei if he plays at ORU! Whatever on that one. I believe ORU will be on the espn network at least 3 times this year and they will continue to schedule top notch teams and will play anyone anywhere. I think the staff does a great job for their kids that go there.

I remember controversies over the years but what has remained is the fruit of ORU - the students who respond to the call, the staff who serve, the faculty who give ... and the basketball fanatics on this website who keep it fun.

Well said Sterns.

I hope he ends up at ORU but the "no pressure" statement I dont buy for one second. There are many kinds of pressure, not all are bad, but I doubt anyone has ever signed a recruit without applying some pressure.

Lot of things i could say on this one but won't. Let's put it this way a lot less pressure than most schools put on him. Scott has handled this one very well and hopefully it turns out well for ORU.

The only pressure I haver heard about came from other schools:  Kentucky, Gonzaga, Kansas, etc. all wanting him to make up his mind as quickly as possible - and in their favor, of course.

The one consistant tone I have heard regarding RC's recruitment by ORU, from his family and all other observers who truly know, is that Scott Sutton has put no pressure on Rotnei at all to sign with ORU.

And I would be willing to bet that if Rotnei chooses some other school, it will be met by little more than a collective shrug from ORU fans.  Nothing at all like the personal attacks that have been oozing from the TU message board ever since Saturday morning.

I think ORU fans in general simply wish the guy and his family the very best - whether it's at ORU or not.

All things considered, OSU may be looking pretty good to Rotnei right now.  Their roster is somewhat depleted and he could easily be a 4 year starter at a Big 12 school that is on TV and has pretty good tradition.

That is all true.... but they already have a point guard signed (Keaton Page). Who knows how all this will end up. There is still a month until signing day and a lot can (and will) happen between now and then.

Isn't Page a high school senior that committed early?  Are you confusing him with Nick Sidorkis from Jenks, who is a freshman at OSU this year?

If Page is still in high school, OSU hasn't signed him to anything yet.

I think Page signed with OSU right? Very similar to Clarke but IMHO, not as good.

No need to get crazy but hiring his dad, the family provider, amounts to some pressure, especially to a kid who is so family oriented. That is a different kind of pressure than, "if you dont sign, we are going to go after someone else and this spot will be taken" but it most assuredly, is pressure.

From the Daily Oklahoman:

Recruiting trail: OSU has a commitment from guard Keiton Page. OSU continues to look for a big man for '08 ? a recent development, with Cooper's unexpected departure. Guard Rotnei Clarke and a number of 2009 recruits will reportedly be at "Homecoming and Hoops.?

I think Clarke is much better than Page but they are fairly similar players. Seems like a weird fit but RC would probably beat him out for a spot.

Its interesting how TU waited to have their meltdown until they were out of the running for RC.  As long as they thought they would beat ORU, they did not care about the hire of CC.  Seems a little late to be complaining now about something that happened 6 months ago.

I guess I am sheltered because the venom on that board about all things ORU is shocking to me.  I have never understood people who rejoice when others go through hard times.

I have visited quite a number of message boards over the past few years, and the bunch to which you refer is, without question, the most viscious and hypocritical lot I have ever had the displeasure to confront.

I just try to convince myself that this gang of cyber-thugs is not an accurate cross-section of fans at that school.

Because if it IS, then heaven help them...

Lots of information has come to light since the spring. TU fans generally have ire for ORU, mostly undeserved but TU is not in the top 50 for bad message board fan behavior. Visit almost any BCS board, some are pornographic and bipolar.

They may not be Kentucky or Kansas but they are pretty close to it lately; some of the stuff on the TU board is WAY overboard. I spend a lot of time of the Texas board and it is not as bad as Tulsa's is right now.(well except the porn pictures) :-)

Most of it is not necessary most of the information as far as salaries and such is wrong. I would hope if Rotnei ends up elsewhere  that ORU fans will act with both dignity and class.
