Dave Sittler of the Tulsa World is predicting that Doug Wojik might be going to West Virginia. Seems that Michigan is getting ready to name the WV coach (Beilein) as the replacement to Tommy Amacker. Seems he is well known by the current AD and was considered for the job previously.

You've got to be kidding me!  That would be quite a blow to that program - not to say that they couldn't find a long list of very qualified people to take his place, but the problem with coaching continuity continues to plague (potentially) 11th and Harvard.

Let the games begin.... Arkansas people are now saying they think the new coach will be Dana Altman of Creighton. But in reality they have no idea. Things should start falling into place this week for the major programs (Kentucky, Arkansas, Michigan, Iowa, etc) .... which will then cause secondary and tertiary effects.

Tomorrow AM I would think we'd start hearing some announcements, then we'll know just which of the speculation proves correct.

Arkansas "sources" are saying that the athletic department/booster plane has a flight plan listed for Atlanta and then Omaha.... for what it is worth. Maybe Frank wants to meet with Warren Buffet.

The Hogs - or at least some of them that are posters - are not happy. They have already started a "Fire Dana Altman" thread.

I wonder if Altman has thought this through? He and  his wife are from Nebraska and his parents still live there. The culture shock is going to be enormous.... as will be the amount of pressure he encounters. It appears that he is not getting a large bump in pay either. Interesting that he did not take the Iowa job that is closer (in a lot of ways) to Creighton. The reports also say he is taking all of his assistants.

Sutton's name has already been mentioned in regards to the Creighton job....

Now it will get it interesting for ORU! Sutton will be on the short list for the Creighton job and he will be very interested in the job. Big bump in pay and one of the better jobs in the Missouri Valley.

Also about time the coach at Southern Illinois gets the $$ he deserves. He has done a great job up there deserves the same $$ as Turgeon and Altman.

Altman to Arkansas?  I just don't get it, for a number of reasons:

Why Arkansas?  Why not Iowa, since it's supposed to be such a great job?

Why did 9-year assistant and former Blue Jay star Kevin McKenna leave Creighton for Indiana State just last week?  Couldn't Altman have warned him this might happen?  Did he think Altman would never leave?  Or did he know Altman WAS leaving, but knew he himself, for some reason, wouldn't get the Creighton job, so he opted out for the best thing immediately available?  I thought it was a little odd McKenna would take a job going head-to-head with his mentor in The Valley.  Did he know that wouldn't be the case?

Altman has a 10-year rollover contract at Creighton.  How do you figure out the buyout on something like that?

Is Altman the "strong, confident, etc." guy that is going to be able to influence who the new AD is at Arkansas?  Why leave the apparent security at Creighton for the 3-ring circus that is Arkansas athletics right now?

Most chilling thought:  Creighton message board says Altman plans on taking entire remaining Blue Jays staff with him to Arkansas.  If it's true, where might Creighton find a new coach with a staff so tight-knit they would all be willing to pack up and go together to Omaha?

Uh-oh.... :-o

I was thinking the very same thing.... although I would guess that one of them might stay to take the ORU job. The problem is that he would have to build a completely new staff.

You think this might help turn some attention his way?

From the Creighton board:

"We lost everything in a matter of moments....our coach our assistants....our recruits"

Kinda pitiful . . . hope we're not posting the same thing in a day or two :|.

Whatever the case with Wojcik, here's confirmation that an offer is on the table from Michigan to Beilein:
