eagle88
From a biblical prospective Dave is spot on. Unfortunately the American church at large has been compromised by tolerating and allowing worldly influence in many areas. All of us are prone to making mistakes and sinning and that is why we must look to what scripture says as to what our standard needs to be. Look at many of the once great universities in our nation like Harvard, Yale , Princeton etc. They all started out as strong education centers to train ministers and students in the truth of God's word but today would be unrecognizable by their founders. All of us want to see ORU stay on the right course and that will only happen if the standard is kept high and wrong actions are addressed in a Christ like manner from time to time. Thank you Dave for taking a stand that in today's standard is not popular. 1

Lots of whipped cream, not much meat.

Definitely not a fan of his teachings. But who knows, maybe we'll get to Heaven and we'll find out that God really did want us to have a big house and a Mercedes!
Popular Post ctt8410
Thanks for the thorough assessment. I'll pass it on to the people who've been working on this stuff. I've never gotten a straight answer on the sound system. Some say it just needs to be replaced. Others insist that it was tuned to operate in a full arena and the echo is a function of the sound bouncing off all the empty seats. Either way, it's scheduled to be upgraded in the next few years. As for the on-court product, it's clearly a work in progress for us. I've been pretty skeptical of Mills, but he had the right gameplan on Saturday. Throw everything at Griffin and goad him into shooting tough mid-range jumpers. He's less effective going to the rim. The only real advantage we had was Selebangue on Vanover, but even he missed way too many free throws to take full advantage. And you guys really roasted our defense in the 2nd half. Taking full advantage of the communication breakdowns and lack of rim protection. I thought we should have iced more screens, because there was clearly too much being given up in the middle, but even that may not have been enough. Jurgens hurt us, but Mwamba was the big surprise for me. He's a dude. Anyways, good game. Glad we could knock down that SOS a bit. See you guys in a year. 5

theeagleman5
I have to say this, Dave......TheEagleman recently watched a crusade the Joel and his wife conducted at Yankee Stadium in NYC this past summer....there was lots of good spirit led music and the message given by Osteen was amazingly good and spot on about how one needs to receive Christ as personal savior and I have to say that i was very surprised....as the old saying goes....i guess even a blind squirrel finds an occasional nut...... dave
Glad to hear that. Usually his messages are more of a self help seminar than a Gospel presentation. Let's hope that "squirrel" keeps finding some of those nuts. 1

As someone who has announced hundreds of games at Mabee and several at Reynolds, I can tell you that it's a combination of the sound system and the building. The main issue is simply the design of the buliding and the fact that 95% of it is metal and concrete. Any PA guy is going to sound infinitely better at Mabee, due to the acoustics. When doing PA at Reynolds, you must make an extra effort to enunciate every syllable, to be able to achieve any level of clarity. Plus, you can't use a souped up radio/deep voice and try to be all "cute". Having done PA in dozens of arenas of all shapes and sizes over 35+ years, Mabee Center has BY FAR the best acoustics. The only issue that a PA guy would have at Mabee is volume, as the sound is so good, one is tempted to get too loud. I constantly had to tell the sound people at Mabee to bring the volume down. 90% of the time, nothing earth-shattering is happening and the PA volume doesn't need to be turned up to 10. And, when something big does happen, in the course of the game, the PA guy can simply speak louder and with more emotion. 3
ORUJason
They could install large sound baffles along the walls of the Reynolds Center that would absorb the sound waves and greatly decrease the muffling echo.

Man, I bet it was REALLY echoing tonight vs. Detroit Mercy… Seriously, I counted less than 10 kids in the end zone student section; perhaps more were sitting in better open seating around the arena, but still... Official attendance per the box score was 3012. Must have all been at the concession stands during this part of the game...
Keenan Henderson
It looks like the old covid days when teams could only have a handful of fans in the stands.
Bogus Smith
Speaking of TU, this will probably be the hottest night of the summer with the chance of a late afternoon/early evening thunderstorm. Trying to compete with the tribal casinos, BOK Center, & Mabee Center. Lots of potential risk in making this event happen. But as Prez Brad says, it should be fun!! Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper bringing tour to TU's Chapman Stadium
theeagleman5
Ah now you are talkin', Bogus!....TheEagleman saw Alice Cooper with some wingmates back in 1973 at the old Tulsa Civic Center which i assume is long gone....it was the Billion Dollar Babies Tour......No More Mr. Nice Guy!!....those were the days! theeagleman5
How does TU get Detroit Mercy for an away game and ORU can't?.....Tulsa can't be paying them with 250 people in attendence.....in fact, TU gets a lot of decent home games.....
