Old Titan
From my old professional coaching buddy last night: two NBA scouts he knows say Max is not currently on their draft boards.
Keenan Henderson
This NBA G League camp is a step down for Max from last year's NBA Combine camp. I hear that the top three or four players who stand out at the G League camp are then called up to the NBA Combine camp. Max is probaly hoping that he has a great G League camp and then he will be invited to the main camp, as he was last year. Last year Max scored the lowest on the skills part at the NBA Combine camp. Wonder if he improved any in those areas: speed, ball handling, etc. Remember that he was also the shortest player at the camp. Max is a great player but just has a lot working agaisnt him to turn pro.

Fixed ^^^^^^ Max could actually "turn pro" to play somewhere and get paid for it. The question is whether he would want to, in today's pandemic world. Would you want to go play in China, or South Korea, or Australia right now? What of you were in Italy or Spain or England and they have another shutdown? Between going undrafted and deciding where it's safe to go abroad, the comfy confines of the Mabee Center can start looking pretty good for one more year... oruvoice
The question is (should be) for Max...will staying at ORU for one more year cause him to greatly improve his game? The answer to that question should make his decision. Athletes have a finite period of time to earn money playing their sport.

eagle88
I would think Max would play in the G League if he makes it. Does anyone know out of the 44 prospects how many actually will make it?

eagle88
Good info thanks. Looks like a tough road for Max but he has a great work ethic so you never know.

ORUJason
Coach Mills was very smart and supportive with how he handled the questions about Max and the NBA. His players definitely seem to enjoy playing for him and overall the vast majority of players have been loyal to Coach Mills and the program. Old Titan
Big week for the Max Watch: G-League camp is in Chicago Monday and Tuesday; select players will advance to the NBA combine Wednesday thru Friday at the same location. College players who have declared for the NBA draft have until 11:59pm EST on June 1st to withdraw and maintain their college eligibility.

Keenan Henderson
Basically the thought is: if Max has a good camp and once again is on the NBA's radar then he would go pro but if he struggles, like last year, then he comes back to ORU. Looking at the G League Elite roster and about 15 of those guys I have never heard of, so it would seem Max has a chance to shine. It is not as tough of competition as he saw at the NBA combine last year.
