Old Titan
Incredible "Summit League After Dark" classic Thursday, with Denver topping South Dakota 111-110 in double overtime on a steal and buzzer-beater. Max Abmas-doppelganger Tommy Bruner with 49 points for the Pioneers, Kaleb Stewart with merely 44 for the Coyotes. Bruner now holds the highest-scoring single game performance of the year in D1, and leads D1 in scoring average per game. Be sure to watch the last minute or so of this video; it's time well spent... 1

Old Titan
I hope this leads to more fans and attention for Denver; it would be great for the league if they (and, frankly, ANYONE outside the Dakotas) can get their program up and going.
theeagleman5
This league is nuts....NDSU wins in OT at SDSU....Omaha beats St. Thomas and KC whips Denver....all good results for ORU....

TrueBlue82
It was nice for ORU to have a bye tonight and to watch the other Summit action. And, what a night of action it was! NDSU survives a buzzer-beater from Zeke Mayo that sent the game into overtime, as Luke Appel barely misses a game-winning shot at the OT buzzer. The Bizon take down SDSU 74-73 in Brookings! Omaha wins a barn-burner at home over St. Thomas 69-65. And, Saturday's ORU opponent Denver is throttled by 14 in Kansas City. Finally, North Dakota gets a road win at South Dakota, and moves into a tie for first place in the Summit! Talk about parity! Halfway through the Summit season, and EVERY team has at least three losses and only one team (USD) has less than three wins. ORU now sits in a four-way tie for fourth place at 4-4. Any team that steps up in the second half can win it all! Why not ORU??? 4

theeagleman5
Geez...the Jacks are just not that good.
TrueBlue82
Talk about parity! The Jacks (now tied for the lead in the Summit) and the Coyotes (alone in last place in the league) played today on the Jacks’ home court with SDSU as a 15.5 point favorite, and the game came down to the final shot, and nearly went to overtime. I’m now convinced that EVERY game in Sioux Falls will be a toss-up, as ANY team in the conference can beat ANY other team in the conference on ANY given day. Every team has a chance to win the title and the automatic bid this year. If there is ANY year that a large group of rabid fans in Sioux Falls in March could make a big difference for ORU, this is it! The tourney will be WIDE open… 1
titansforever
Interesting article on how things stand in the Summit this season. Basically, it says that "anyone could win the tournament." https://www.siouxfallslive.com/sports/college/zimmer-summit-league-parity-has-its-drawbacks-but-makes-for-unpredictable-march-madness-in-sioux-falls I just want to know what a dauber is: "You should never get your dauber down, because timing is gonna be really important in this whole deal." - Jacks coach Henderson

A "dobber" (correct spelling) is the little button at the top of a ballcap. Legendary sportswriter Ring Lardner wrote of a professional baseball coach of that time who would encourage his players to "not let their dobber down" when things got tough (ie. don't hang your head). 3

Thanks, OT! I crown you "Historian par excellence" of the Sports Forum! It seems the Jacks coach might not be sure which sport his team is playing...

He's not alone in the mixed metaphor sports arena. How many times have you heard some media type excitedly say that a basketball or baseball game/season "kicks off" today/tonight/etc.? Last time I checked, a basketball game "tips off", while a baseball game "gets under way".
