ORUTerry
Expect to see lots of visitors to the message board once we learn who our opponent is. The opposing school’s fans (along with people filling out brackets) will want to find out about the team/program.
ORUTex
Well, Colgate just completed the 5-team parlay of results we didn’t want. 16 seed looking more likely, but if the committee looks deeper into the NET rankings, broken down by results against quadrants, we look better than some of the teams projected just ahead of us. Drexel, Iona, and Grand Canyon come to mind.
Old Titan
Would not put it past the always-TV-conscious committee to completely disregard Iona's bona fides, and instead go the "What-other-controversial-hall-of-fame-type-coach-can-we-put-Rick-Pitino-against?" route. I'm thinking something along the lines of #15 Iona vs. No. 2 Houston with Kelvin Sampson, or even as a #14 vs. #3 Kansas and Bill Self. ORUTerry
Maybe having the nation’s top scorer will help us.

Could be worse; could be a bubble team like Wichita State, getting pushed right out of the bracket in the last 24 hours by bid-stealer tournament champions like Georgetown (Big East), Oregon State (PAC12) and possibly Cincinnati today (AAC). Unlike Pitino, ORU doesn't have enough mouthpieces at ESPN and CBS in-and-around "the room" with names that end in a vowel. #EastCoastBias #fahgettaboutit
theeagleman5
Maybe the committee should be reminded of the Pitino/waitress story or the strippers in the Louisville dorm.....might be worth knocking Iona to a 16 seed....

Is that presumed, or according to seeding rules? Can't the committee seed teams/brackets how they want?

Can't the committee seed teams/brackets how they want? Oh, sure they can - just watch! In fact, I think they often try to go against the projections, simply to justify their existence as opposed to a computer doing the seeding. They want to literally make a case for being "the smartest guys in the room". So, to answer your question: yes, the top two seeds traditionally draw the two winners of the #16 play-in games. But, who those top two seeds are? The committee decides.
theeagleman5
So you think visitors to our board are unaware of Coach Pitino's antics at Louisville?...i wouldnt let that guy coach in a Saturday morning adult league....
ORUTex
15 baby! Coach Mills knew what he was talking about with the Ohio St. matchup.

Ohio just gave Illinois a fit in their conference championship. Very tough match-up for ORU.

This post aged well. Gotta wonder: how did Coach Mills know 24 hours before the announcement? I did not see ORU vs. Ohio State ANYWHERE else in a bracket. It's good to know people who know people! Texasgrip
A lot can happen between now and Friday. It will be interesting to see how/if the bracket changes due to Covid disruptions...
theeagleman5
ORU will be about +16 - +18 vs. Ohio State...but still better than drawing Michigan or Illinois...
Idig32
Drawing Ohio State is pretty good. Not as good as a matchup as Houston, but not terrible.
