Two observations (and also realizing this is an extremely dynamic site that will change a lot over the next three days): 1. Iona and ORU have the same average seeding at 15.32 - perhaps it's just alphabetical at this point? 2. Iona's seeding average is based on 47 brackets whille ORU's is based on all 117. I don't think a lot of these yardbirds who do these brackets realize that Iona is not your run-of-the-mill 9-seed; they will eventually catch on if the Gaels run the MAAC table. Could be due to the strange case to be made by the Gaels, coached by the always-controversial Rick Pitino. They finished the season 10-5 overall and just 6-3 in league play due to COVID cancellations. Since the MAAC based their tournament seeding based on total wins instead of winning percentage, Iona was relegated to a 9-seed even though they tied for second place based on percentages. Now they've knocked off the 1-seed and are the favorite to advance. No telling where the NCAA committee might slot a team like that in the NCAA bracket in this crazy pandemic season, but the popular consensus appears to be ABOVE ORU, knocking them down a spot. Siena had a tough first matchup and had historically not done well against iona

Old Titan
Bracketology updates 3/12/21: CBS Sports (Jerry Palm) - #16 ORU vs. #1 Illinois ESPN (Joe Lunardi) - #15 ORU vs. #2 Houston Washington Post (Patrick Stevens) - #15 ORU vs. #2 Alabama USA Today (Scott Gleeson) - #16 ORU vs. #1 Illinois Bracket Matrix - ORU leap-frogs Iona back to the "weakest" #15 Seed (would face the "strongest" #2 Seed, currently Alabama) Current Consensus: ORU is hovering between the 63rd & 62nd spot in the 68-team field, translating to the strongest #16 Seed (playing the weakest #1 Seed), or the weakest #15 Seed (playing the strongest #2 Seed). theeagleman5
Who would ORU match up best against? Houston...Alabama or Illnois?....
Keenan Henderson
Houston because they do not play such a tough schedule and they have lost to some average teams. Also their guards are really good but their frontcourt would not dominate a smaller ORU team.
Dr. Cornelius
Illinois would be the absolute worst.

They just blasted a really good Michigan team and the Illini are as good as anyone in college basketball.

Old Titan
Championship games of interest Saturday, where upsets could conceivably produce additional #16 or #15 Seeds on Sunday, helping ORU avoid the dreaded "16-vs-1" first-round match-up. For reference, ORU is currently #154 in the NCAA NET rankings used by the committee for seeding purposes: MAAC: No. 7 Fairfield (273 NET) vs. No. 9 Iona (139 NET) - as previously discussed, Iona is more highly-regarded than their seeding; ORU needs Fairfield to win. Big Sky: No. 2 Eastern Washington (114 NET) vs. No. 5 Montana State (221 NET) - Go Bobcats! Southland: No. 1 Nicholls State (180 NET) vs. No. 2 Abilene Christian (83 NET) - another weird league seeding; an NSU win is the outcome that might benefit ORU. WAC: No. 1 Grand Canyon (117 NET) vs. No. 3 New Mexico State (160 NET) - Go Aggies! And, last but certainly not least Sunday: Patriot: No. 2 Colgate (8 NET) vs. No 9 Loyola-Maryland (151 NET) - in perhaps the greatest indictment of the NET rankings amid crazy COVID scheduling, Colgate has lost only once in just FOURTEEN games this season, hence the gaudy top-10 ranking nationally. The Raiders are projected as a 13-Seed in the NCAA bracket; an upset win by the Greyhounds could benefit ORU. The America East, MEAC and SWAC championships are Saturday as well; but all participants are presently ranked below ORU as solid #16 projections. 1
Old Titan
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi still has #15 ORU vs. #2 Alabama in his latest bracket Saturday morning, but he also has none other than Oklahoma State as a 2-Seed, which presents a fascinating possibility of a rematch with the Cowboys should the stars align properly. Keenan Henderson
Alabama would be an interesting matchup. They also live and die by the three and like to play a fast tempo game in the 80s. Their defense is much better then the Eagles, so that would be the difference maker. Everybody has an opinion but personally I hope ORU does not play OSU. We already matched up with the Cowboys in two straight seasons and have a contract to play the next two years. So it would be good to face off in the tournament with a team that ORU normally does not play. Just an idea but some may see it differently. ORUTerry
The team is on its way to Indianapolis. The NCAA has asked schools (AQ’s & teams who know they will be in the tournament) get to Indiana this weekend
