As Chris Belvin tweeted: The grass is green, the sky is blue, it's cold in the winter and warm in the summer.... and ORU baseball wins championships.

Congrats ORU and Coaching staff for keeping the wining streak and leaving with 15 straight. What a tremendous feat! :muscle:

I concur - great job by the players and coaches in capturing this 15th straight championship. Coach Walton said at the luncheon this past week that they have been battling injuries all year and hoped they could heal up enough to make a run.

How about these Summit Tourney tidbits.....of the seven games played....five were decided by one run.....and no team in any game scored more than four runs.....the most total runs scored in any one game was seven....total runs scored for the tournament....only 38.....yes, it was a pitchers weekend at JLJ for sure.... :nerd:

Our pitchers were great this weekend. Part of it was a very strong wind blowing in. We had a great time (since we pulled out the wins). Bowen was the tournament MVP. Others on the all tournament team were Spring, Schlehuber, Trevino, King and Torrence.

NDSU gave us quite a run. Oakland did last night as well and SUU the night before. This win may be the sweetest of the 15 because it was the toughest to attain. As the Eagleman mentioned, especially because the men's and women's basketball teams weren't able to seal the deal, it is a great feeling to end our last Summit League competition going out on top. I wonder who will end up winning the Commissioner's Cup.

Every game was a nailbiter....that type of game should prepare the team for the upcoming regionals which will all be tough games against tougher competition....our pitching is strong....but the bats must wake up to have any chance of moving on to a super regional....any idea where ORU might be sent in the regionals?....Monday at noon EDT we will find out on ESPNU..... :nerd:

We all need to take just a minute to acknowledge a tremendous accomplishment. While anything less than a 15th straight conference championship would have been considered a disappointment, the pressure of playing "not to lose" can be excruciating. With all the variables that naturally impact the game of baseball (weather, field conditions, pitchers, ballpark configuration, etc.), it is rare to see domination, so a team that wins 70% of its games is almost guaranteed to be a champion. With that consideration, fifteen consecutive league championships and a 46-2 all-time tournament record is absolutely incredible. Very proud of this team and the coaching staff - and pleased for the program to leave the Summit League on a high note.

100% correct, Blue....winning this year with all the injuries and pressure is a great accomplishment.....NDSU had a very good team this year...perhaps as good as any Summit opponent that ORU has had to face in the past 15 yrs....anything this group does next weekend is a bonus....TheEagleman isn't expecting a whole lot but with our pitching....who knows?...didn't think we'd do anything last year either and we got to the final game vs. DBU.....ORU is playing with house money....we are a #4 seed that a lot of teams won't want to play..... :nerd:

Yes you really never know how well the team might do until the games are played. As Rob Walton said at the ORU Coaches Luncheon, there is a tremendous amount of parity in college baseball and almost any decent team it capable of beating another team on a given night. With the quality of our pitching, anything could happen.
