TheEagleman is stoked for the game this afternoon....I am sure that SDSU will come out with guns blazing....we need to hold them down the first few innings and grab the lead.....not let the Jacks get any momentum....it won't be any fun having to play a 2nd game tonight but don't think it will happen....anybody know who is starting on the mound for ORU this afternoon?.... ;)

Looks like we're the visitors today, and already out to a 3-0 lead with no outs in the top of the first! Double, double, homer, then a bunt single by the cleanup hitter. Pile them on, boys!

It's all over but the post-game party....SDSU Ace Vermuelen routed by ORU as good guys lead 11-1 in the 6th....just as TheEagleman predicted....but no bows will be taken....we stripped their manhood 21-6 yesterday and this is just a continuation of the embarrassment....yes, pile it on.....looks like the King is NOT dead....ORU will be dancin' in the NCAA tournament again come Monday.....big effort by Jeff Burleson thus far giving up only 1 run and 3 hits thru five....another HR by Elder....it must be a great atmosphere down at JLJ this afternoon....warm up the bus, SDSU....they won't be able to get across the Oklahoma state line quick enough..... ;)

Still 11-2 ORU as we head to the 9th....3 more outs to go....six really good innings by Burleson and two excellent ones from Beeler so far...our pitching this weekend has really stepped up big time....32 runs the past 2 days haven't hurt either...

ORU gets another in the 9th and it's 12-2 as we head to the bottom of the last inning....our fans probably on their feet for the last 3 outs....a tribute to this ORU team that was up and down all season but has risen to the occasion when it counted during the Summit Tournament....time to start thinking which regional they will send us to.... :geek:

Heard Dr. Rutland led the standing O for the last 3 outs. Great to hear him involved.

Wow, another game mysteriously low on score updates from the opponents. Must be a Van Halen concert going on or something

Yes.....good observation....very strange that the Jackrabbit fans haven't been around all day....surprise, surprise.....those in attendance at JLJ probably left about the 5th inning....they are probably already over the OK state line by now...

Great game today and a strong pitching performance which is exactly what we needed. Getting the 5 runs in the 1st inning set the tone for the game and there were some very impressive defensive plays during the game as well.

Around the 6th inning or so SDSU loaded the bases with no outs and we walked in a run for them. We were able to get a strikeout and then a pop-fly in medium left field was the 2nd out. The SDSU player tagged and the outfielder made an absolutely perfect throw directly to the catcher to get the 3rd out on a bang-bang play. It happened so fast it was hard to know for sure if he was safe or out but it appeared to me that the tag hit the player before he touched the base even though he was near the base, I don't think he actually touched it until right after he was tagged. This completely killed the SDSU momentum which was definitely building. It was an amazing play that you rarely see.

This team has grown in confidence over the last 3 games and we will take that confidence and high level of play that we have displayed over the last 3 games into the regional. I still think that if we get a 4-seed then the 1-seed that we play will not be happy to see that matchup.

You're right, Jason - the tagout at home was the dagger in the heart of the jacks. Their fans were very animated with the bases loaded, and you could feel the momentum turning. One catch and an incredible throw later, and the momentum shifted back for good. The key to this game was not the 12 runs of offense, but the excellent pitching by Burleson and Beeler, and a defensive error-free effort.

This team showed a lot of heart this weekend - and I think they will be very loose heading into the regionals. This team is very capable of doing some real damage next weekend.

Hats off to SDSU, too. They played very well - and I thought Coach Price did the right thing by bringing their closer to the mound early in the game. The strategy worked well for awhile, but ORU proved itself to be just too strong today. All Golden Eagle fans should be very proud of this team's performance this weekend! They did all the little things (and some BIG things) right!

Amazing what can happen when you get good pitching and defense....you will have a chance to win every game.....yes, TheEagleman will also take the high road....congrats to SDSU on a fine season and they did beat us in 3 of the 6 games played by the two teams....they will be a tough opponent again next season....looking forward to the NCAA selection show on Monday.....ORU will be a tough out for any team....we are playing with house money.... ;)
