vcboy2000
Why didn't they just hand them the game before the inbound play?!?!?

MadAdder
I can't hear either, but I think we just got hosed...
ORUTerry
Cannot believe the refs made that call.... or that we put them in a position to make it. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!
vcboy2000
I'll try to explain this as best as possible. During the timeout Cooper said the only way Oakland can win the game is by the player running the baseline flopping against the defender that guards the inbound play. That is exactly what happened. Otis 83
Terry, what call? Is the game over?
vcboy2000
They shoot two foul shots and win the game.
Bogus Smith
That foul doesn't get called in a real conference with officials that know what they're doing. The people who run the Mid-Con will continue to scratch their head as to why our teams always get #15 & #16 seeds (or play-in seeds) in the NCAA Tournament and never win their first game against #1 and #2 seeds. The Mid-Con teams can never get a high enough RPI to warrant a high enough seed to play a #3, #4 or #5 seed to have a chance. Until we get past playing "High School level" rules on contact to play with the big boys, we'll continue to be a low-major conference. Guest Rob Marshall
for those of us who can't listen, what's happening??? ORU down one with the ball, missed jumper from the elbow but Yemi tips it back in "apparently" at the buzzer in OT. Officials go the scorers table and check the "video" from this untelevised game and confirm the tip in was GOOD but with .4 seconds remaining on the clock. Oakland calls timeout and pulls the refs coat to look for a foul away from the ball on their player setting a screen. Ref, looking for the Oakland player to get run over, and he makes the foul call when the Oakland player gets run over. Oakland hits BOTH FTs to win by one. Tough call no question, but ORU players have to stay completely away from the appearance of contact in that situation. Don't follow the player running the baseline ... if they throw it long and get a "catch and shot" with .4 seconds to beat you fine but DO NOT FOUL or even "APPEAR" to foul. Brutal call, but gotta give Kampe credit ... terrific coaching/working the officials on his part.
tmh8286
King running the baseline in response to the inbounding player ran into a stationary Oakland player set up to draw the charge, and we fell for it, or at least the official made it happen. Then Kangas went down and won the game on the free throw line.
vcboy2000
Scott calls out the officiating first comment in post game. Said he didn't care if he was reprimanded.
ORUTerry
On the in-bounds, King was guarding the passer. The passer moved down the baseline with King chasing him. Oakland placed a player (Kangas) in King's way, who - according to Mark Neely - 'flopped' when King got near him/brushed him. The refs called a charging foul which allowed Oakland (Kangas) to shoot two free throw and win by one - with 0.4 seconds left.
Guest Rob Marshall
SILVER LINING ... no question about it, ORU will be hungry to win the tournament now. THAT is the great news!
Ting
why was there .4 seconds on the clock? Doesnt the clock keep running after a made shot? I remember at the utah state game after a made shot we shouldve had 5 seconds but they didnt stop the clock and it kept running.
vcboy2000
Scott just questioned how they could go view a replay if the game was not televised.
ORUTerry
Oakland is in for it if we meet them in the championship.....
Guest Rob Marshall
Question, how can they go view a "replay" if there was NOT a television broadcast involved in this game??? Scott just asked this question himself on the post-game. THAT is the question I still want to know the answer to. To me, that's a tougher call than the "flop foul" call.
