We're now in the bottom of the sixth - SDSU just hit a solo homer to make the school 8-3. ORU has been relatively quiet since the second inning.

Before I could post this SDSU hit a second homer - two in a row - to make it 8-4, bottom of the sixth.

Seth Furmanek is pitching.

In similar fashion to yesterday, ORU gets up early, then SDSU chips away at the lead . . .

Looks like an all-Furmanek day today...he's pitching strong and has hit a 3run HR....9-4 ORU in the 8th....would be really nice to get this first one today and take the pressure off having to win the nightcap.....nice crowd in Brookings today?... :P

Geoff said that it looked like around 50 people there today. Don't know if that counted the guys in the dugout and the three umpires or not. It will be interesting to see what SDSU will announce, but with 50 people, you can probably count that in three minutes.

Looks like we're going to get 18 innings in today. 9-9 in the top of the 11th with Vermeulen pitching for SDSU. Seven-inning game yet to start.

This team continues to find new ways to lose - dropping a 10-9 "thriller" in 11, and creating another Jacks "dogpile" at home plate. The negative momentum this year is very contagious - it's as if the players are continually waiting to see what bad thing will happen THIS time. You can even hear the frustration in Geoff's call of the game, which is understandable since he lives and breathes TrueBlueORU. Uncharted territory for Coach Walton - but I'm still hopeful the NCAA streak will extend for another year.

Simple: no closer.

Sorry to second-guess the coaches, but no way Furmanek should have been left in so long.

He deserved a better fate.

No closer is no good....this has certainly been a problem all season and we've already seen the results in the first two games of this series....we didn't even get a sniff in game 2 today losing 7-4....when is the last time that ORU got swept in a Summit DH?....and when's the last time that ORU got swept in a four game series?......mama mia!.... :(:(

This doesn't answer your question, Eagleman, but it's related... this is the first time that ORU has EVER lost a Summit League baseball series. Pretty remarkable record, actually, and now we need to avoid a sweep.

Geoff said there was 25 in the stands. They no doubt have sponsors and season ticket holders just like ORU. No complaints about their announced attendance numbers from me.

Currently it's 10-5 in the bottom of the sixth, Smolen on the mound. In a bit of trouble right now, with a run in for the Jacks this half-inning, and at least two on right now. Strikeout gets us out of the inning giving up only one run, which was fortunate.

Nice effort from the Eagles to avoid the sweep. Spotting the Jacks an early 4-0 lead, ORU turns on the offense with eight runs in the 4th, and coasts to a 15-5 ten-run rule win in 7 innings. Always good to leave Brookings early for the 11 hour bus trip back to T-Town - and let them know that we will still be considered the favorite over Memorial Day weekend.

Right you are, Blue. After three losses it was nice to have a decisive win today. If there was EVER a Jekyll and Hyde team this is it. Hopefully they will have a strong showing next week against Centenary. I definitely like our chances in the friendly confines of JLJ.

OT - truly, the master of the metaphor. Here are three little words that a master like you could probably create another metaphor from: pot, kettle, black.
