LarryL
Shoot! I was hoping Kent State would at least stretch the game out a bit, or even sneak up on them. Oh well, it will be a great game tomorrow nignt.
NormanDale
It's interesting what a huge difference hosting a regional can make ... so far today the #1 seeds are a perfect 10-0, while #2s are a mere 9-7. #1s finish the day 15-0 with the East Carolina/Binghamton game postponed until tomorrow. tmh8286
That's a pretty amazing statistic, although with one seeds playing four seeds, it DOES tilt things in their favor. It will be interesting to see how many one seeds fall today - I'm counting on at least one !

ORUalum
Surprise, surprise • The NCAA selection committee surprised everyone earlier this week by giving Oral Roberts the No. 2 seed at the Tempe Regional. Well, perhaps the committee knew something we didn’t. Oral Roberts used a crop of good offensive performances and a solid start from Jerry Sullivan to beat Cal Poly 13-3 in opening-round action. Colby Price, Juan Martinez and Seth Fumanek each hit a home run. • Baylor’s inclusion to the NCAA postseason was a hot topic earlier in the week. The Bears, though, showed what they’re capable of in a 5-0 win over Minnesota. BU starting pitcher Willie Kempf struck out six and allowed just three hits in six shutout innings. Craig Fritsch and Logan Verrett also threw well in relief. It will be interesting to see how the Bears fare against top seeded LSU on Saturday. • You absolutely knew this was destined to happen. Oklahoma State has been the subject of criticism all week for the NCAA including it in the regional field. Well, the Cowboys made a huge statement against Alabama with eight runs in the first three innings on the way to an impressive 10-6 triumph. OSU shortstop Tom Belza had a pair of homers and six RBIs in the game. Reliever Randy McCurry threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/baseball/news;_ylt=ArA7nfE0EVQgtQH5YaCUW2IMwLYF?slug=kr-aroundthebases052909
