Liberty another heartbreaking defeat in the tourney final to Kennesaw State.....Flames will be headed to the NIT or elsewhere.....😮

Kennesaw was the #1 seed and Liberty the #2 seed.  Tough loss for the flames by 1 point that came down to the last second.

Flames shot horrible - especially McGhee (0/11 from 3), but got questionable calls from the refs. The last one was a desperate drive by the Kennesaw guard who was out of control most of the game. Refs called a foul with 0.7 seconds left in a tie game. The kid drained the first free throw and purposely missed the second one. Tough way to lose

The game was played at Kennesaw State’s “arena” - which looked like an all purpose aerobics center. Kennesaw won the regular season conference and therefore had home court advantage.

What a concept.

IMO the refs should not have blown the whistle on that last foul with .7 seconds remaining. The Kennesaw guard was pretty much out of control and losing  control of the bball. There wasn't that much contact for a final play that determines a game. Tough loss for Liberty.

Poor Eastern Washington; lost their final two regular season games to break the longest winning streak in the country and their undefeated conference season, and today lose to Northern Arizona in the first round of the Big Sky tournament.

They are now NIT-bound; low-to-mid-major postseason tournaments SUCK for the regular season champion...

Agree, OT.....and let's hope that they aren't saying "Poor Oral Roberts" tomorrow morning or late Tuesday Night.....TheEagleman is confident we can win this tournament but with Max and Conner playing less than 100% there have to be some concerns......😬

I think it was a bit of a make up call from Kennesaw's prior possession where the guard got smashed in the face before losing the ball out of bounds with no call.

Maybe. But .7 seconds doesn't seem to be a good time for a make up call. The refs should never decide a game like that.

That kid was out of control most of the game. The refs shouldn’t reward that style of play.

My question… what would the outcry from the north look like if the tournament was held in OKC?

Cost of Travel and no teams are based in OKC.

Liberty let us down, but we have one more chance for the Eagles to have a win over an NCAA tournament team. Texas Southern has gone on a run in the SWAC tournament, starting by knocking off the 1 seed, Alcorn State. They play 2 seed Grambling in the final at 4:30 today for a trip to Dayton.

Grambling crawling back into the game.  They've cut the lead to 2 with 8:38 to play.

TSU hangs on to beat Grambling for the SWAC Championship, 61-58. Might give us a little bump...?

Meanwhile, Utah St. playing tough in the Mountain West Championship against San Deigo (20). Utah St. led at halftime but trails 40-44 with 9:55 left...

Utah State goes 4-23 (17%) from three and 7-14 (50%) from the line in a 62-57 loss. Against ORU early in the year, they made an amazing 19 of 31 threes (61%) and 18-23 free throws (78%) in a 95-85 win. I'm sure SDSU's defense was a lot better than ORU's, and USU was launching some threes at the end to try to comeback, but sometimes it really does just come down to whether the shots are falling. The ORU game would have been very different had USU shot any reasonable % from 3.
