Records are falling

Many records are falling for this ORU team.  One of them that may fall is most wins in a season.  Interesting note at the D1 level ORU has never won more than 27 games in a season.  That record should fall this year.  The Eagles did win 36 and 29 at the NAIA level.  They have a good chance at getting to 30 wins this season.

Max has just broken into the top 100 all time in D1 scoring list.  Caleb Green is at 75 and if Max continues at his current rate then he has a good shot to finish in the top 50 in all time scoring in college basketball.  Let the records continue to fall.

Max currently has 2,456 career points versus Caleb Green’s (3rd all time at ORU) total of 2,503…..just 47 points behind. There’s a good chance he will surpass Green in South Dakota this weekend.

With 33 more points, Max will pass Michael Watson of UMKC for 3rd Place in all-time Summit/Mid-Con scoring (2,488 points)

Conceivable Thursday night in Vermillion, but if not (and barring serious issues) it will most likely happen Saturday night in Brookings.

Next in conference scoring in 2nd Place would, of course, be Caleb with his 2,503 points.  1st place is out of reach (Mike Daum of SDSU with over 3,000 points).

ORU averaged over 5,300 fans per home contest this year.  That is more than double compared to any other team in the Summit League.  I am guessing that is the most in a season since the Green/Tutt days!

The increase is probably driven by all the free tickets.  🤣

Whatever it takes…

Coudn't care less if they let people in for free to sit in unsold seating, and/or the upper section.

The more the merrier, particularly if they buy concessions and perhaps start buying reserved seats per game or even season tickets.

The ORU website says that this is the highest attendance for Eagle games since the 98-99 season.  So about 24 years since we have since this type of turnout at ORU games.  Hopefully it does not take another 24 years to reach these records.

I believe that was the year we first got season tickets, and we've had them every season since.

ORU breaks the record of 17-1 in Summit League Play and ties the record for most wins at the D1 level of 27!

ORU was 3-3 after the Utah State game and frankly looked just ok but then they turned it on by winning 27 of 28 to finish the season.  First time the Eagles have ever won 30 games at the D1 level.  The record is 36 (NAIA team) but can they tie it?  Only need to win the Big Dance.  Odds to win the national championships is 30,000 to 1 for the Eagles.  Eagleman you should get in on that action and make a safe bet of $10 to win 300,000!

The odds 2 weeks ago were +100,000.  Last week before the tournament they were +50,000.  Apparently it has now dropped to +30,000.  That is based on a $100 bet.  So +30,000 actually represents 300-1 odds.

Max is now #57 all time in points scored at the D1 level in college basketball history!  With 23 more points he will break into the top 50.  Very impressive for the sharp shooter from Rockwell, Texas.

That is a pretty awesome stat.

That's great for Max, but when looking at "all time in points scored at the D1 level in college basketball history" let's keep in mind that prior to 1986 there was no 3-point line in the NCAA. Imagine how many points Richard Fuqua, Pistol Pete, Jerry West, etc. would have scored if they had the 3-point line.
