We have been waiting for Max to hit a game winner and boy did he ever. Now ORU has won 10 in a row! Connor had a really nice game to compliment Max's 35 points. What a win. Very impressed by KC. Texasgrip Posted January 8, 2023 Share Posted January 8, 2023 Well, some serious palpatations tonight. The Golden Eagles did NOT play well for most of this contest. Lucky that UMKC cooled off a bit because it seemed like all their threes were falling for awhile. Their player AND coach blew it by getting those technical fouls - especially since it was on an And1 for the 'Roos. Max with SIX POINTS of technical FTs or we would have lost bad. And I thought @OKC Eagleor I might get a technical for giving the refs an earful a couple of times (the wives were not impressed ). As bad as some calls were, the worst might have been against UMKC on a three point attempt by MAX which gave him another three points. We were all set for overtime (after we inexplicably DID NOT FOUL before they got that last three pointer off). But: #MIDCOURTMAX with the bomb and we were losing our minds!!! Max should be player of the week in the Summit League and Mid Major next week. Talk about a no brainer. ORU's saving grace tonight was getting to the line but in just about every other category, KC was in charge. They are a frustating team to play because the Roos play very slowly and then throw that half court press at the Eagles. It just felt like the game was played in the mud. ORU could never really get enough rhythm going. Does anyone know what happened on the double techincal fouls with about four minutes to go? The player popped off to Jurgens after his basket and the foul on Jurgens. I'm guessing profanity because they got two techs called like that and they were very quick/decisive calls by the official. The coach was irate with the call and wouldn't back down and got the subsequent 'T.' It's too bad they couldn't control themselves - it literally cost them the game.
