TrueBlue82
Denver’s strength is in their interior, but they were totally neutralized by Vanover, Weaver and Mwamba. That left Denver with only Tommy Bruner, who is a VERY nice player, but couldn’t single-handedly carry the load. Very solid win, and ORU’s longest win streak since 2012. And, especially impressive, as ORU was impacted by the Southwest Airlines cancellation debacle, and the team was forced to shift gears to an eight-hour bus ride from Omaha to Denver. theeagleman5
An 8 hour bus ride??....geez....ORU Road Warriors!!...Vegas surely didn't know that as the line rose to 11 points at tip off....an 18 point road victory is truly miraculous then against a good 10-6 Denver squad.....EXPECT A MIRACLE!!!

Gutsy....i guess they must really love their son to make a trip like that.....God Bless Max!! ORU begins 2023 on a 9 game winning streak.....it's been a long time since the Golden Eagles have had a double digit streak...at least a decade for sure.....what a way to finish out 2022.....helps to ease the pain of double digit inflation and $3.75 a gallon gas...... Max's parents flew on Southwest, but they started their trip on Monday to get there today. (purely in jest!)

I listened to the game and was very impressed by the noise you guys made! You guys were our 6th man! So excited about our win and winning streak! Happy New Year to everyone! Yeah you're right Eagle 88, there was a good group of ORU fans at the game. Talked to a few and some were students who live in the area. They were very vocal and had some signs such as Go Midcourt Max! People were also wearing the Sweet 16 sweatshirts. Watching ORU live and those things stood out: 1. The Eagles seem like they have good chemistry and each player knows his role. Good unity among the guys. 2. DJ and Connor often talk during timeouts about how to guard the post. This was maybe DJ's best game on defense in a long time. He was very active and used his quickness to block the shots of the slower big men of Denver. 3. First half Max was the main option on offense but that in the second half he mostly deferred to McBride who caught fire. I like how the guys are humble enough to let the hot hand take over, even when it is not Max. 4. Whenever a guy on Denver would hit a couple of shots, then Coach Mills would switch Patrick on that guy and he would shut him down. Very impressed with Patrick. The guy just does it all: take chargers, rebound, hit open shots and can guard 2-5 on the floor. A real difference maker. 5. Connor really matched well with Denver's big guys because they are not three point shooters. He defends well in the post but has trouble with quicker centers who can hit an outside shot. 6. This was ORU's best defensive game of the year, except for SDSU. I am guessing Coach really challenged them after giving up almost 90 points at Omaha. As the old saying goes: defense travels and helps you win on the road. The Eagles showed a lot of toughness today on the defensive side of the ball. 1
Keenan Henderson
Did get a video of the last minute steal and dunk by Patrick but the forum says it is too big in size to post on here. Does anyone know a way around that, or is there nothing to change that? It was similar to the dunk at the end of the Tulsa game by Patrick.
ORUTerry
Nice win against a team that plays a much different style than us. Denver has height and typically uses their physicality to score or draw fouls. This ORU team does not need Max to carry them every night. Against Denver, Thompson and Mwamba stepped up - along with Weaver. Besides scoring, they played tough defense against Denver’s taller front line.
Keenan Henderson
Went back and listened to Adam's post game show and he named Kareem player of the game. That was surprising because Kareem really did not stand out yesterday but looking at his stats: 13 points, 8 assists (career high), and 4 rebounds. He just quietly goes about his business but has been a real solid, rock type player for ORU the last three seasons. In fact, the last four games Kareem is averaging 6 assists per game! Coach Mills seems to use him as a distributor in this offense. KT is good at throwing lobs to Connor for the jam, he had a couple at the end of yesterday's Denver game that took the breathe out of the Pioneers.
