Rod Pearson was a cross between Patrick Beverly and Draymond Green, but without all the drama.

Intense, physical, non-stop motor - a consummate glue guy.

He was unlike ANYONE Paul Mills has recruited so far.

Good description of Pearson. Very focused, intense player. His game was very different from McBride's. Impossible to compare them. Both are good players.

How about the new team against the 96-97 team that went 21-7 and made the NIT.  Coach Bill Self's finest group.  Here are the matchups:

Earl McClellan vs Isaac McBride (Good matchup: McClellan more of a passer/assist man against the scorer McBride)

Tim Gill vs Max (Who do you have in this battle of the all-stars?) Somewhat even.

Clifford Crenshaw vs Kareem or Patrick (Clifford would have an advantage in this matchup)

Rocky Walls vs Lufile (Battle of the bigs)

Blake Moses vs Connor  (Length vs strength)

So far, the new team has been on the losing side of the matchups, but I believe they could win this one.  In a close 71-70 affair.  Pretty even matchup.  The new team's bench of: DJ, Carlos, Herron and Trey P. would give them an advantage.  What does the forum say?

That is a very interesting team comparison indeed.  Clifford Crenshaw vs Kareem or Patrick is a pretty even comparison.  It will be interesting to see how much Patrick will be able to contribute this year.

Patrick's style of play almost mirrors Kareem's.  He is a glue guy that can do a little bit of everything: rebound, play defense, handle the ball, and hit a few threes.  Plus, just like Kareem, Patrick has a couple of years' experience at the D1 level.  Would expect those guys to share the minutes at the wing or small forward position.
