ORUIllini
Just curious about these 2 games...do they count towards the official record? And how are we able to play against 2 non-D1 teams after the 2 exhibition games? Seems like last year's scenario all over again....but I'm sure someone has an explanation... Old Titan
The games count in ORU's W-L record (but they are considered exhibition games for the opponents). They do not, however, count in the NCAA RPI, or in the record the NCAA selection committee would consider if ORU wins the Summit League tournament and has to be seeded in the NCAA bracket. As for the "only two non D-1 teams" rule, who knows: that rule seems to get changed every other year or so...
Bad Blood
The rule is no more than 4 non-D1 opponents, including exhibitions. The problem last season was that ORU played two exhibitions, Cameron and Dallas Baptist before being forced to play Abilene and IWU in conference play. If I remember correctly from what Jimmie Tramel wrote, no one realized that 1- exhibition games counted toward the max, or 2-The SLC games were not d1 until it was too late. Fortunately a waiver kept the team from forfeiting. This season, there are two exhibitions. Haskell and Tabor. At four, the team is in compliance.
