BlueGold
The ladies lose 54-43 at UALR. We battled through turnovers and some tough calls throughout the first half and into the second and were only down by one (29-28) with 13:18 to go, but UALR went on a run over the next five minutes, extending their lead to double digits and we weren't able to overcome it. Both teams didn't shoot well (ORU 36%, UALR 39%) but we made it worse by turning the ball over ten more times than they did (24-14). Too many possessions given up. ORU scoring leaders- Dorka Balla 12, Jordan Doyle 8, Faith Ihim 7 We need more scoring and more consistent play from senior starters Detti Balla and Atoe' Jackson. They both drive me nuts. Detti can be a consistent double-figure scorer and rebounder, but isn't. Atoe' certainly has the ability to score in double-figures every game but tends to press and force her shot when it's not there. They combined for just eight points and somehow only managed to take four shots between them. They need to be shooting more and our other players need to be getting the ball to them more, especially when Vicky McIntyre is being double-teamed, which was the case for almost the entire game tonight. She had only six points and took only six shots in 36 minutes. That's way too few for a player like her that can dominate near and under the basket. UALR came into the game with a 3-0 record, which includes a road win at LSU, and they got a vote in the latest AP poll, so they were going to be a challenge for us even if we played pretty well, which we didn't. We're 2-3 on the season. Next up is the Southern Miss Thanksgiving Tournament this Friday and Saturday in Hattiesburg. First up is a Friday game with North Carolina A&T. Depending on the outcome, we'll play either Austin Peay or Southern Miss on Saturday. Let's go Eagles!
