BlueGold Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Kaily Cox with the winner in the 87th minute as ORU (1-2-2) wins its first game of the season 2-1 at SMU! ORU had taken the lead in the 26th minute on a goal by Madison Valenzuela but SMU tied it on a successful penalty kick in the 60th minute. Some notes: - The team is now on a three-game unbeaten streak. They tied the previous two games before winning today. - The win was ORU's first ever at SMU. The Golden Eagles had been 0-5-1 in Dallas all-time before today. - Helen Erb replaced Maddie Rhodes in goal for ORU to start the second half. It was Erb's first game since last September at OU, when she suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. She made five saves in the second half to help the Golden Eagles to this win. - With her goal, Madison Valenzuela has now either scored or assisted on four of ORU's five goals this season. She has three assists. - Freshman Caitlyn Hanslovan picked up her first career point with an assist on Cox's game-winning goal. Next up: This Sunday (1pm) at Houston Baptist. Go Eagles!!
