Bogus Smith
Jack Whitt comes in second by missing twice at the 18' 10-1/4" mark and is narrowly defeated by the pole vaulter from Ole Miss. This still provides Whitt with All-American honors for the umpteenth time in his ORU career (indoor and outdoor combined). It will be tough to replace Jack as an ORU pole vaulter. Jeffery Gibson runs a 50.40 in his semi-final heat of the 440 hurdles for a seventh place spot in the finals. The finals for this event will be tomorrow. Regardless of the end results, both of these guys were super during the season.....congratulations to Jack and good luck to Jeffery!!

theeagleman5
TheEagleman watched Jeffrey Gibson of ORU compete in the 400 meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships on ESPNU earlier this evening.....Gibson ran well with a personal best of 46.39 which breaks a 30 yr old Bahamas record......thought he had a shot at 3rd for a few seconds near the end but he would up 5th in what was a very fast time for the winner/favorite from USC......congrats to Gibson who represents ORU well..... tmh8286
Thanks for that update, Eagleman, and congrats to Jeffrey! Our track team, while not receiving a whole lot of attention, year in and year out performs very well. We have every reason to be proud of these unsung heroes! ORUalum
Only 2 non Power 6 schools in the top 20 -- ORU and UNC-Greensboro. Yet another great season from Coach Dial and his athletes.
tmh8286
Only 2 non Power 6 schools in the top 20 -- ORU and UNC-Greensboro. Yet another great season from Coach Dial and his athletes. . . . and the only track program in the state of OK in the Top 20, I might add! Congrats to Coach Dial and the team for making ORU proud!
