ORU's bats once again in sleep mode tonight at JLJ......Gonzalez throws 6 scoreless innings to match zeros but then gets hammered in the 7th and 8th.....ORU trails 5-0 as we head to the 9th....the losing streak will stretch to 7 games......

We were out hitting them through 6.  We ended up with 6 hits each.  We had runners on 2nd and 3rd one time and 3rd another time, but couldn't get them home.

Trevino hurt his ankle.  I sure hope he is going to be ok.

On a positive note, the weather was great!!

Yes, the team is having some difficulty right now.  Nothing seems to be going right.  We are playing with a third string catcher that is having trouble just getting the ball back to the pitcher, the hitters are hitting, but leaving way too many runners on base - especially in scoring position, and the coaches are still trying to find the right combinations in the outfield, bullpen and lineup.

But don't give up on them yet!  Trevino is hurt with a rolled ankle, Migliaccio has a broken hand, Brandy still seems to be suffering from the effects of his concussion (at least I hope that is what is causing his poor play).  The fact that we're playing against a very talented opponent in Cal-State Fullerton doesn't help us.

Bowen pitched four innings as well as he could.  Yes, he gave up a lead-off HR, but the other three runs were just good baseball on CSF's part.  Our catcher situation is problematic and unfortunate.  The first string catcher is out for the season with a broken arm, that makes Trevino the second string catcher (which also affects his offense when he has to work so hard behind the plate).  When Trevino needs a break (or is injured, like now), we have a freshman who, at this time last year, was behind the plate for a Texas 5A Christian school catching 75-80 mph fastballs.  He is having to grow up FAST!  It is really noticeable to see the pitchers react to him - especially when he make errant throws back to them.  I feel bad for him (and us).  We even had the bullpen catcher (fourth string) behind the plate for the ninth inning today!

We will probably be 5-15 going into the Central Arkansas series next weekend.  UCA beat Wichita State earlier this season.  They will not be an easy series to start out our Southland Conference legacy.  Let's hope we get well quickly.

Sounds like injuries really are taking a toll on this ORU squad....our NCAA appearance streak which is at something like 16 or 17 years looks like it will end in 2013.....oh well....bleep happens.....

ORU finally leads in a game with a two-spot in the first. Zufall starts game three for the good guys. Very cold, windy and cloudy today - but still dry.

Good guys hanging in there. 4-4 going into the bottom of the fifth. Trejillo pulled in the fourth due to a shoulder problem (hope it isn't another injury) and Brad Fisher is now in as the pitcher for ORU.

ORU goes down again...7-4.  it seems like they find a new way to lose each game....today was HBPs and pass balls/wild pitches.

this team does not have the bats to play for big innings.  they need to return to Sunny Golloway small ball...station to station, stealing, bunting baseball.
