2013 Recruiting Class

Baseball America did an article last week on the recruiting classes for the upcoming season. Although ORU didn't make it in the Top 25 recruiting class - or the next 10 recruiting classes - they did make the "Best of the Rest" by region. Below is the snipet of ORU's recruits.

Oral Roberts upgraded its speed and athleticism with the additions of juco transfers OF Tyler Boss and 2B Matt Brandy. 1B Garrett Greenwell, another mature junior-college transfer, brings good power to the middle of the order. RHPs Guillermo Trujillo, Gavin Glanz and Pepe Gomez all work in the 88-91 range and have decent feel for pitching.

If you're interested in seeing all the teams that made the list, go to http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/college/recruiting/2012/2614242.html and either do a "Find" under Oral Roberts or go about 2/3 of the page down in the "Lower Central" section where Baylor, Dallas Baptist and others are also recognized.

these were announced in December.  i'm sure they are not done.  i think i remember Geoff saying a couple times during the season that Ryan Neill was not with team because he was recruiting.

Emmanuel Forcier - OF - New Mexico Junior College (Academie Les Estacades)

A native of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada, Forcier had an outstanding .398 average in 2012, recording 42 hits, three doubles and three triples. Forcier blasted three homeruns for the Thunderbirds in his first college season, driving in 26 runs and crossing the plate 23 times.

ORU baseball recruiting coordinator Ryan Neill on Forcier: "Emmanuel comes from a very successful junior college program. Emmanuel has a very high ceiling. He has tremendous tools and has a chance to be that leadoff type hitter. He is an above average runner which will give him a chance to play centerfield."

Galli Cribbs Jr. - SS - Clarendon College (Dulles HS)

Cribbs brings plenty of experience to the Golden Eagles, playing this past summer in the elite Cape Cod League for the Cotuit Kettleers. Last season, playing for the Gators of San Jacinto College-North, his squad participated in the JUCO World Series. The Houston, Texas, native batted .312, with one homerun, 10 doubles and a triple.

Neill on Cribbs: "Galli is your prototype shortstop. He has played at a very high level and he has competed very well. His skill set will allow him to play in our middle infield next season."

Jacob McDavid - Pitcher - Chandler-Gilbert Community College (Williams Field HS)

McDavid (Queen Creek, Ariz.) will join the Golden Eagle program via the Coyotes of Chandler-Gilbert who finished the 2012 season with a 30-25-1 overall record. He was one of the more consistent relief pitchers for his squad, striking out 14 batters in 15.1 innings, with an outstanding 1.17 earned run average. In high school, McDavid was an All-East Sky Region pitcher, picking up the most saves in a single season.

Neill on McDavid: Coach Luce (CGCC) has sent us many players in the past and I think Jacob will be another great player from that program. Jake has really come on strong in the last year and continues to get better. We think Jake will be a major factor into our success into the 2014 season."

Jordan Romano - Pitcher - Connors State College (Father Michael McGivney HS)

Coming from one of the storied programs at the JUCO level in Oklahoma, Romano (Markham, Ontario, Canada) made 12 appearances for coach Perry Keith last season. He averaged a little over one strikeout per inning during the 2012 campaign, earning a save against rival Eastern Oklahoma College. In high school, Romano was picked to represent Team Canada.

Neill on Romano: Jordan comes to us from another very successful JUCO program. Jordan is a very projectable kid. His fast ball has ranged anywhere from 90-94. We think that Jordan will develop very well in coach Sean Snedeker's throwing program and we are very excited to help him become the player he wants to be."

Alex Wise - SS/Pitcher - Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (Neosho HS)

Wise, a native of Neosho, Mo., was a three sport standout at the Southwest Missouri high school. Following his junior and senior years of high school, Wise was runner-up for the player of the year award in the Central Ozarks Conference-Large, as well as a three time all-conference and all-district player.

Neill on Wise: "We are very excited to add Alex to our program. He is a very athletic kid that could fill many roles for us. He can player multiple positions as well as pitch."

Brandon Brosher - 1B/Pitcher - Springstead HS

Brosher will join the Oral Roberts program after a successful high school career at Springstead High School in Spring Hill, Fla. Brosher was named the Florida Atlantic Coaches Association 5A player of the year as a sophomore, as well as an all-state selection twice and an all-county selection each season.  During that sophomore season, he broke his schools record with eight home runs. In this first three seasons of high school baseball, Brosher is averaging .395, has 19 homeruns, 91 runs batted in on 102 hits.

Neill on Brosher: We are very excited about adding Brandon to our program. Brandon is a great kid that comes from a tremendous family. Brandon will be another two way player for us. He is a very strong kid that will help us on the mound as well as in our lineup."
