Weatherdemon
I think you should hope for a 15 seed vs #2 Gonzaga. The Zags don't play very good defense, especially of late, and the only reason they are winning is that they are playing average to below average offensive teams with only 1 or 2 weapons. ORU, with 3 or 4 weapons and a guy like Owens to match up with Morrison, I think you all would have a very legit shot to work yourselves into the 2 seed for the second round. What do you think? ORUTerry
I would absolutely love that matchup. It would be a great game to watch. Gonzaga appears to be faltering at the end, but who knows. Once they are focused they are a pretty good team. Let's take care of business tonight and then - let the conjecture begin.
rlh
The committee would NEVER let two Mid-Majors play in the first round. Won't happen....
orumom
Northern Arizona is a 15 seed? The same team that Tulsa beat and we know how bad they were back in the beginning of the season. NAU as a 15 is a joke. NAU has 20 wins, but three came against non-D1!!! Montana will win the Big Sky Tournament easily. Especially to have them against Texas in Dallas. That is where ORU will be with a win tomorrow. I would put ORU up against Penn, Delaware St., Davidson or NAU. ORU is just as good if not better. Sure would have helped to win those Utah St. games and the Marquette game. Just about 5 posessions away from being 24-8. We all know we could have won those games so we should have confidence that we can play with anyone in the tournament. Lets take care of tomorrow so that we can talk about this for a week or so. I just don't think a 21-11 team gets a 16 seed. The NCAA will look at... Record vs. D1: 20-11 Best Win(s): vs. Southern Cal (109) or None (Root for USC in the PAC10 Tournament) Key Loss(es): at Western Illinois (321) by 5 RPI: 129 Last 10 Games: 8-2 Winning Streak: 5 straight Losses within 5 points: Utah State - twice (49), vs. Marquette (1, at IUPUI (149) and at WIU (321) Teams on Schedule in the Field: Oklahoma and Marquette ORU has done a good job of winning games it should this year outside of the Western game. The other 10 losses are what you would consider acceptable losses (if there is such a thing). This team just didn't beat anyone it shouldn't have and that could hurt come Sunday. We sure did have our chances this year though. This team would probably have the same or even better record with last years cup cake schedule. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology[/quote I moved my post to this thread as it seemed more appropriate here. JoeyO
I would HATE to play Gonzaga in the first round. That is the last team in the field who would take an underdog for granted. Don't we still have to win before we talk about this?
Guest Rob Marshall
Bring on Illinois!!! ... for several reasons including, (1) "small" point guard in Dee Brown (won't be as difficult of a match-up for Bluitt), (2) no 7'er in the post, (3) physchological advantage in that we only had to beat "Chicago State" to get in the tournament combined with the fact that during the regular season we lost by double digits @ Minnehaha will create an arrogant mindset in causing the Illini to think they are superior to lil Oral Roberts. Would love to see that game! PLEASE bring on the Illini!!! PLEASE!!!
