Former SID
Anyone else notice the former Golden Eagle playing for Mexico? It's April Garcia who played in 2002-03.

Old Titan
The head coach of Team USA finally "discovered" Kevi during the 3rd quarter of the Mexico game, giving her substantial minutes and resulting in her tallying most (all?) of her 9 points and 3 assists. The result? A 3-point halftime deficit turns into a 20-point lead heading into the 4th quarter. I thought the USA coach's "strategy" was woefully behind the times. Her "feed the post at all times" style-of-play went out 20 years ago, replaced (especially on the international scene) by the "feed it in, kick it out for 3" style that Jerry employs so well at ORU. My favorite quote from her was after the loss to Puerto Rico: "Yeah, it's hard to keep up with the other team when they're scoring "3's" and we're scoring "2's". MEMO TO THE COACH: HOW ABOUT DESIGNING SOME PLAYS FOR YOUR 3-POINT SHOOTERS, INSTEAD OF JUST SPACING THEM AROUND THE ARC LIKE SOME SORT OF SHELL DRILL? It wasn't until the second half of their last game, and after they had already been eliminated from the medal round, that the USA coach let the girls run a little bit and play their game, which included shooting some 3's in transition. That, and FINALLY benching the little point guard named James who was TERRIBLE the entire tournament. Next time, I hope USA Basketball can find a coach that plays 21st century basketball, and not just roll out another old warhorse like this gal - she was a joke.
