Big series for the good guys this weekend out west vs. Tony Gywnn's squad....Alex Gonzalez went a couple innings at UT on Tuesday night...does he get the start tonight or is he held back until Saturday or the finale on Sunday?...The Aztecs are only 9-17 this year but have won two in a row....ORU needs to get two of three in So.California this weekend.... :ugeek:

Smolen started and went 4+ for ORU...the good guys hanging on to a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 7th....at one time we led 5-0....bullpen needs to shut down SDSU...

We have outhit the Aztecs 10 - 5 and have left 11 runners on base. We still have not learned to play this game very efficiently.

Yep...ORU not taking advantage of early baserunners in this one....the lead is melting away but good guys still up 5-4 in the 8th....we need six more outs from the pen... :worried:

Aztecs leave runners on the corners. Rush gets the save while under a lot of pressure. We needed a close win like this. It seems like we have lost several close games so far this season. Also good to see the bats start to heat up with us getting 10 hits.

Also another shocker tonight in Summit League play. NDSU vs. North Dakota postponed due to bad weather and field conditions. Postponed until May. Maybe next time they'll just schedule the game in May in the first place.

Game TWO has gone to extra innings with the score still tied at 1-1.....ORU bullpen got out of a 9th inning jam....it's up to them now with Gonzalez gone after a strong outing...8 innings...3 hits...1 run and 6 Ks... :ugeek:

Going to the 13th inning. These guys are hanging in there and playing with heart. Let's scratch a run or two across and get this game over!

Yeah...15 LOB for ORU....we must be hitting under .200 this season with men in scoring position....pathetic....still 1-1 with ORU batting in the 13th... :worried:

We were .231 with RISP coming into this game.

What a terrible way to lose a game....4-3 in 14 innings. We were up 3-1 in the 13th on a 2-run WP and error by the catcher. A mix up on a routine fly ball in RF between Barnett and Baligod, opens the flood gates and SDSU ties the game in their half of the 13th. They finally put everyone out of their misery with a single past TJ Bennett that should have been cleanly played and a routine throw to first to end the game as the runner on 3rd scores easily. It will be interesting to see what happens with this team this year.

what a tough loss. i watched the last few innings of the SDSU broadcast and the announcers could not believe how many innings rush threw. the color guy, who apparently writes for mlb.com, was in shock that ORU's closer was going out to start the 14th inning after coming in in the ninth and having pitched yesterday. it was obvious that he had nothing left after the 13th. i think he only threw 3 or 4 strikes in the 14th. they were incredulous that coach walton did not get anybody up in the bullpen until rush walked the bases full. they actually felt bad for him and just wanted the game to end w/out him getting hurt.

it is going to be a long season if some of the bats don't wake up.

That's a bad loss last night to a substandard SDSU team....can't blow it after taking a 2 run lead in the top of the 13th...and TheEagleman is starting to wonder about Walton's sanity with his pitching staff sending Rush out there for 5 innings....no further comment....:worried::think:

GAME THREE....Looks like no pitchers duel today....ORU jumped out to a quick 6-2 deficit after the first inning but has rallied to lead 8-6 now in the 4th...the good guys have 8 runs on only 4 hits because San Diego State hurlers have walked 9 guys so far and the Aztecs are already on their 4th pitcher...our starter got knocked out after one....its gonna be a long afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium....
