ORUTerry
Green achieves bobble status By MIKE BROWN World Sports Writer 2/25/2006 Caleb Green said the bobble head doll molded in his likeness is "kind of cool" but it "doesn't look like me at all." Oral Roberts University basketball fans can see for themselves Saturday night. Copies of the seven-inch tall, bobbing-head figurine will be distributed to the first 2,500 arrivals for the Valparaiso game. "It's something you can put away and keep for a long time. Not many people get bobble heads, so that's cool," said Green, ORU's junior star and the 2005 Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year. "It'll be a collector's item," said ORU coach Scott Sutton. "Caleb has a chance to go down as one of the greatest players in school history." Sutton had his likeness molded in plaster last season. Others in the ORU bobble head family are school all-time assist leader Luke Spencer-Gardner (2004) and mascot Eli the Eagle (2003). The dolls were created by Alexander Global Promotions. The Seattle-based company claims to have ignited the worldwide bobble head collectible craze with the creation of its Willie Mays doll for the San Francisco Giants in 1999. Among AGP's more than 5,000 bobble head creations are Mick Jagger, Miss Piggy, Babe Ruth, Buzz Lightyear and Emmitt Smith.
