ORUTex
Didn't want to overlook the Centenary game, but now that it's out of the way, we can begin the poems for the visiting Crusaders. I'll kick it off: Roses are red, Violets are blue, and VALPO CAN'T WIN IN TULSA! (Title edited per Eli's excellent suggestion)

8EL3K6
Thought I'd give it a shot: There once was a team we called Valpo Their basketball team was not shallow Though they were filled with depth And they tried their best They still just can't win in Tulsa. ORUTex
Maybe you'll like this one better: I think that I shall never see VALPO WIN IN TULSA!
MrsSmith
Tex, are you an accountant? You lack creativity. Sorry.
ORUTex
No, not an accountant. The creativity lies in adapting my annual VALPO CAN'T WIN IN TULSA! post to the poetry format recently popularized on this board, without actually having to write any poems. ORU Eli
Tex - I'm a fan. Although, you should shorten it to "Valpoetry"

ORUTex
Thought I'd give it a shot: A noble effort, 8. Also shows why I didn't try to write an actual poem (what the heck rhymes with Tulsa, anyway?)
ORUTex
In honor of the rematch, with apologies to Edgar Allan Poe: Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of Mid-Con scores, There I found out, to my chagrin, Valpo had pulled out a win, In a game in a Tulsa gym, although on a neutral floor. They had beaten Southern Utah, whose talent was rather poor; Only this, and nothing more. Still I wondered, might it just be, the Valpo men had been set free, From the burden of the Tulsa jinx that for so long they bore? Now Raven knows his basketball, so on his knowledge I did call, "Raven, I asked, with ORU next, could an upset be in store? Will Valpo win again this year - tell me truly I implore!" Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!" Because Valpo STILL can't beat ORU in Tulsa!

On the other hand, ORU can't beat Valpo in the tourney
ORU Eli
That's pretty much the best poem I've ever read.

praetorfenix86
Why can't we read poems like that in humanities?
ORUTex
On the other hand, ORU can't beat Valpo in the tourney 2 games does not a trend make, especially when they were played in Illinois and Indiana. 11 games, now that's a trend. EDIT - updated to reflect tonight's result!
richieoru
2 games does not a trend make, especially when they were played in Illinois and Indiana. 10 games, now that's a trend. Well said Tex, very well said. And the poem was marvelous!
