Coach Fink's comments on media day:

Jerry Finkbeiner - Women's Coach

Thoughts on the team and the upcoming season...

"We're looking forward to this year with a core group of our team returning, of course by Kevi Luper statistically and Jaci Bigham. We have three freshmen that are going to play a big part of our season this year. Three young ladies at three different positions with good quickness, size and shooting, which makes a good variety with what we have coming back from last year's team. Last year's weakness was that we were freshmen orientated and freshmen led, we took a summer basketball tour of the Dominican Republic also combined with a missions effort through our faith that added a lot of maturity to our club. "

On Kevi Luper entering her second season...

"Offensively and defensively she statistically led our team, conference and also nationally. She is very talented and a pleasure to coach. A lot of people didn't realize at the end of the season last year she was playing with some really bad foot injuries on both feet. She came back in the middle of July and had a good July and August and is an improved player and worked on mid-range jumpers. She is driven to be the best player she can be. A lot of national attention coming in this year with her preseason third-team All-American selection and has a bulls-eye on her back, last year she was definitely a surprise coming into the league now everybody knows about her. The challenge is out there in front of her and she has put the work in July, August and September to meet those challenges and be successful.

On the keys to winning both the regular season title and tournament...

"It's hard to do and I never put emphasis in the league title, it just happens and we won't put emphasis on it. Our emphasis is on the conference tournament. The league title is nice and a credit to your program and the work we put in it and its hard to get. The conference tournament with the pressure that goes with it, one and out, three games in four days, that's what we put our energy and thoughts into, especially the second half of our league season."

she wasn't playing well (or as well as she had) in the conference tournament or the NIT game at MSU.
