Golden Eagles hold UMKC to one field goal in last nine minutes.

KANSAS CITY -- Leah Cannon scored a career-high 21 points to lead Oral Roberts past the University of Missouri-Kansas City, 60-50, Saturday at Municipal Auditorium.

The 5-foot-5 guard was 7-of-17 from the field and knocked down four 3-pointers.

Cannon also added five assists and three steals.

Stephanie Brown paced UMKC with 20 points.

Teammate Jowan Ortega finished with eight.

Alysa Klein recorded three blocked shots to go along with eight points and two steals.

ORU (13-11 overall, 7-6 Mid-Con) trailed 25-24 at halftime but shot 52 percent from the field (13-of-25) in the second half and outscored UMKC 36-25.

Brown's layup with 9:17 to play gave the Kangaroos (7-17 and 5- a 43-42 lead.

But ORU clamped down on UMKC, which went 1-of-10 from the field in the last nine minutes.

Elisha Turek answered Brown's basket with a jumper to put the Golden Eagles up for good, 44-43.

The junior forward finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Sarah Davidson added 14 points while Marianna Camargo snagged a season-high eight rebounds despite playing with a broken nose.

The game featured six ties and 18 lead changes as the two teams battled close in the first half.

For the game, the Golden Eagles shot 41.8 percent from the field and hit 8-of-19 3-pointers.

The Kangaroos countered at 42.5 percent from the field (17-of-40) but unlike in their first game against ORU when they hit 11 3-pointers, they were just 3-of-13 from beyond the arc.

UMKC went 0-for-6 from 3-point range in the second half.

The Golden Eagles moved into fifth place in the Mid-Con standings with the win.

ORU returns to action Monday at Oakland. Game time is 6 p.m.
