Can we request that the UCLA batters swing the bat with only one hand? Or if they use two, use a blindfold? That might be unfair, how about an eye patch over one eye?

hopefully they can get the pitching and defense turned around before conference play.

Seem to be playing unsure of ourselves or something - UCLA scored run number 17 on a Saladino throw into the first base dugout.

At least the scoring has slowed a bit from the first couple of innings.

Got a little something going in the top of the seventh - bases loaded, two outs. Justin Mitchell at the plate - YES!! Justin get his first hit of the season, scoring Furmanek.

A few ORU fans cheering Saladino's solo HR in the top of the eighth. 20-3 Bruins.

20-4 final score. Looking at the bright side, we led for half an inning - the top of the first!!

What a disgraceful performance tonight at UCLA....TheEagleman has seen enough of Drew Bowen....sorry, but the kid has to do a lot better than that....yeah, Larry....we will see what this team is made of tomorrow....the great thing about baseball is that you don't have to sit around for a week stewing about a loss....let's come back tomorrow and show the Bruins some TRUE BLUE ORU!.....:worried::sweat:

I'm with you on most of your post, eagleman, but I'm not going to pick on Drew Bowen. He had a rough outing last night, but he may be still struggling to find his groove this season. Remember last season he had some great performances -

posted a brilliant game at No. 20 Arkansas, holding the Razorbacks to no runs through the first 8 2/3 innings with a career-high 13 strikeouts. He earned the start against No. 5 Arizona State in the championship round of the Tempe Regional, holding the Sundevils to one run through the first five innings (I admit, I had to check his bio to find these things ;) ) I imagine that those games were part of the reason that he got the start yesterday.

Also keep in mind that he was up against one of the hottest teams in the country - 13-0 record, #1 in RPI, that's a pretty tough matchup. When we get later into the season Drew will probably do great against our Summit brethren.

Not nearly as "disgraceful" as fair-weather fans. |(

Look, the last time got beat this bad was in 1998 at TCU, where we got hammered 27-5.

The next day, we beat the same team, 6-5.

We went on that year to win 45 games and make the NCAA Regionals.

Once the starter gets blown out in the early innings in the first-of-three-games series, the main objective is NOT to hold the deficit down for appearances sake - it's to preserve the bullpen for the remaining two games.

10-4, 16-4, 20-4 - after a certain point, it doesn't matter what the score was; it's simply ONE loss.

Here's hoping we can turn things around Saturday and Sunday with our pitching staff still intact.

Good post, OT.....TheEagleman is not meaning to sound like a "fair weather fan"...it was just a tough day yesterday with our ORU basketball ladies getting hammered along with the baseball team....also had to watch one of my favorite basketball teams the Temple Owls get embarrassed by Cornell....but yes, today is a new day and let's hope our guys go out and beat UCLA....it certainly could happen.... :)
