Golden Eagles Enjoy Success at Wichita State Invitational WICHITA, Kan. - The Oral Roberts University men's and women's track and field teams claimed five event wins and freshman Jack Whitt posted an NCAA automatic qualifying mark on Friday at the Varsity Apartments Wichita State Invitational. Whitt, a native of Norman, Okla., soared to a height of 5.50 meters (18-00.50), which ranked first nationally entering this weekend's action, to claim the top spot, while fellow freshman Dustin Gehrke (Jay, Okla.) placed third with a distance of 5.01 meters (16-05.25). In the 400-meter dash event, freshman Jeffery Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas) claimed his first collegiate win with a time of 49.31, while teammates Jeramy Roberts (50.23) and Brandon Williams (50.40) placed third and fourth, respectively. Jonah Lagat (Kapsabet, Kenya) cruised to a first-place finish in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:35.61, while Fredrick Brown placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 14.61 meters (47-11.25). The men's top 4x400-meter relay squad of Williams, Michael Roberts (Fitzhugh, Okla.), Marvin Bonde (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) and Gibson raced to a third-place showing with a time of 3:20.90. On the women's side, senior Katie Stoever (Tulsa, Okla.) won her second consecutive pole vault event of the season by posting an NCAA provisional mark of 4.01 meters (13-01.75). Fellow senior Rachel Talbert (Newton, Kan.) also claimed an event on Friday, recording a distance of 14.35 meters (47-01.00) in the shot put, while Kendall Reynolds (Lompac, Calif.) placed third in the triple jump (11.65 meters - 38-02.75). Cornesha Wilkerson (Tulsa, Okla.) posted a strong showing in the 60-meter dash, racing to a second-place finish with a time of 7.69. In the 400-meter dash, TK Whitfield also finished second with a time of 58.79, while teammate Whitney Mills followed in third, clocking in at 58.88. Kristen Radcliff (Forgan, Okla.) led the Golden Eagles in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:36.52 to finish third, while Marta Adamiec (10:40.29) and Sheilah Ndasym (10:46.22) followed in fourth and fifth place, respectively. ORU's top 4x400-meter relay team of Miesha Dinkins (Jenks, Okla.), Wilkerson, Whitfield and Mills earned a third-place finish with a time of 3:56.56.
