Show of Support: Caleb Green said the technical foul charged to head coach Scott Sutton was appreciated, especially considering how out of character it is for the ORU mentor.

"Coach Sutton doesn't really get technicals. When he steps in like that, I don't know if it's intentional, but that shows he's fighting for us and he's right there with us," Green said.

Sutton's technical foul with 8:01 left seemed to wake up the Eagles after their lead had shrunk to five.

"It's kind of stepping out character for coach Sutton because he's a real composed guy, so yeah, that gave us a big boost," Green said.

In reserve: ORU received 22 points from the bench, making it 123 points scored in the past four games by Eagle reserves.

Andrew Meloy scored all seven of his points in the first half -- on a runner from the lane, two foul shots and a 3-pointer from the corner -- helping ORU build a 34-20 halftime lead.

Moses Ehambe scored six of his eight points in the second half, twice hitting pressurized 3-pointers after Chicago State had cut ORU's lead to seven.

Freshman Marchello Vealy looked comfortable in his role for the second straight game, contributing four points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots in 19 minutes.

Record night: Green made 17 foul shots in a game for the second time this season, again tying the school record set by Anthony Roberts, who made 17-of-20 in a 77-68 win over Oregon State on Dec. 30, 1976. Green made 17-of-21 foul shots in an 80-60 loss at Valparaiso on Jan. 9.

Up the ladder: Green's 11 rebounds moved him into sixth place in Mid-Con career rebounding. He has 786. He passed Derrick Johnson of Illinois-Chicago, who had 778 in 1985-89. Next stop for Green is fifth-place Raitis Grafs of Valpo. Grafs had 841 rebounds in 1999-03.

Up next: The Eagles take their most important trip of the season, visiting Oakland (Mich.) on Thursday night and Indiana-Purdue on Saturday. ORU trails IUPUI by one-half game, and Saturday's contest could decide the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

It's been pointed out by several others (including myself) in other places, but I want to say it again: the fouls on Caleb EVERY time he touched the ball were egregious! It made me furious at the officials that they allowed it time and again. Caleb was 4-10 from the field, but he was fouled 10-10. He may have gotten 20 free throws, but as voice said in another thread, he should have had TWICE that many.
