TrueBlue82 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 After a slow start to the season, Juan Martinez is enjoying a HUGE week for the Salem-Keiser (OR) Volcanoes (Short Season Class A). Juan (who has played defensively at 2B all season) went 4-for-4 Monday night, hit his first professional home run Tuesday night, and then finished 2-for-3 Wednesday with a HR and a triple. He has raised his average to .333 - I guess he's finally learned how to handle a wooden bat!
TrueBlue82 Posted July 19, 2009 Author Posted July 19, 2009 Juan Martinez met up with former ORU teammate Jerry Sullivan last Thursday night during Sully's two innings of relief. They only faced each other in one at-bat, and the advantage went to Juan. With his team trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the eighth, Juan hit a one-out single off of Jerry to start a four-run rally. Jerry had a tough outing and took the loss - but it was nice to see Juan continue to play well. Juan is in Boise this week with Salem-Keizer - you can view all of his games (beginning at 8 pm CDT each night Sunday through Thursday) online at boisehawks.tv.
