ORUTerry
Quick start fuels ASU baseball rout (excerpt) 14 comments by Jeff Metcalfe - May. 29, 2009 11:35 PM The Arizona Republic slideshow Photos from the game Bases loaded, no outs in the first inning, activity in the bullpen. That unquestionably was not Kent State's game plan against Arizona State in the Tempe Regional opener Friday night, but it's what the Golden Flashes ran into at Packard Stadium. Top-seeded ASU (45-12) parlayed that start into five first-inning runs in a 17-6 blowout in front of 3,543. The challenge figures to be much tougher at 7 Saturday against No. 2 Oral Roberts (32-13) in a winner's bracket game. Oral Roberts defeated Cal Poly 13-3 on Friday so No. 3 Cal Poly (37-20) or No. 4 Kent State (42-16) will be the first eliminated in a 2 p.m. game Saturday........ ORUTerry
This is a very short story about ORU's win over Cal-Poly, but there is also a video clip.
Bogus Smith
Tonight's game will be a reunion of sorts between Oral Roberts coach Rob Walton and ASU starting pitcher Mike Leake (14-1, 1.24 ERA). Leake went 3-0 with a 0.64 ERA in eight appearances for the U.S. national team, coached by Walton, which finished 24-0 last summer. Leake also played 16 games in the field, starting 13 and hitting .236. This should be a real interesting pitching match-up for tonight's game. Both pitchers are well-healed, but there may be a competitive advantage if Rob is aware of Leake's mechanics. I would expect a lower scoring game tonight than the two games yesterday (understatement of the day).
tmh8286
Matt Serrano (9-0, 2.42), the Summit League Player and Pitcher of the Year, is scheduled to oppose Leake. Nice try . . .

vcboy2000
I'm sure coach Walton brought some of the USA team footage. No doubt he's probably already went over it with the players. Hopefully they can catch on quick. Either way, it should be an excited game!
