ORUTerry
ORU Notebook (excerpt) By MIKE BROWN World Sports Writer 3/8/2009 Last Modified: 3/8/2009 4:47 AM Too close for comfort: Oakland men's coach Greg Kampe said he would have swapped first-round foes with ORU. Kampe said he saw "nothing good" about facing IPFW for the third time. His third-seeded Grizzlies and the sixth-seeded Mastodons face off at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The winner faces the ORU-South Dakota State winner in Monday's semifinals. IPFW senior forward David Carson started his career at Oakland and would love nothing better than to gun down his old team. Kampe's associate head coach, Jeff Tungate, played high school basketball with IPFW head coach Dane Fife and worked under Fife at IPFW for two years. "They're our travel partner. I see too many links between us," Kampe said. As for ORU facing a foe playing close to home (SDSU), Kampe said the Grizzlies experienced the same thing when the tourney was played in Tulsa. Oakland upset ORU in the 2005 final and lost to the Eagles in the 2007 final....... Link to Tulsa World Sports Extra
