IUPUI Game Observations

In no particular order:

1. Were the referees trying to establish a record for most offensive charging fouls called in a game? Some of those calls (for and against ORU) were atrocious.

2. The refs also had trouble calling a traveling violation at times.... hint: it's when the player takes a step or moves his pivot foot.

3. Our defense and rebounding won the game for us. All three of our bigs (Lewis, Ford and Hardy had four fouls at the end of the game.) We missed a lot of close shots and need to limit turnovers.

4. Sango had eight assists (seven in the first half) but also had four turnovers - although one or two were not his fault. Our offense seemed to flow better with Sango or Stokes running the point.

5. We did not have much problem with their press... used a methodical approach to get the ball down the court.

6. Difference maker in my view was Morrison making three 3-pointers. Nice to have another option from the perimeter. He was confident and wanted the ball.

7. Moses Ehambe proposed to his girl friend at half time. Voice had the last word though.... as Moses and his now fiance were walking off the court, Voice said "...and Moses Ehambe scores again on the Mabee Center court." classic.

8. Ron Hunter was at it again.... he was yelling in Kyron Stokes' ear when he shot the ball (made a 3-pointer). He also still claps and/or yells when our players are shooting free throws. And he ran out on the court late in the game to question whether the shot clock should be reset after Stokes stole the ball. Should have been an automatic T.

to piggyback on point number 6. ORU shot 8-17 from behind the arc.  when was the last time ORU made that many threes in a game?  let's hope the shooting funk is officially over.
