ORUalum Posted January 22, 2009 Share Posted January 22, 2009 UMKC looking to beat an old rival, Oral Roberts By DAVID BOYCE The Kansas City Star (excerpt) Oral Roberts’ recent domination of UMKC has almost turned the Kangaroos’ biggest rival into just another Summit League team. UMKC travels to Tulsa, Okla., tonight to take on the Golden Eagles with a roster full of players who have no knowledge of how intense these games were in the middle part of the decade. When Michael Watson and Mike English played at UMKC, they made sure their teammates hated Oral Roberts’ players. The Golden Eagles had an equal dislike for the Kangaroos. It made for some extremely entertaining games with high-quality basketball and enthusiastic crowds. One year, Oral Roberts brought several hundred students to Kansas City for the game.
