ORUTerry Posted January 4, 2009 Share Posted January 4, 2009 ORU women stroll past Centenary for league win By Staff Reports 1/4/2009 Last Modified: 1/4/2009 3:36 AM (excerpt) The Oral Roberts women's basketball team defeated Centenary, 95-42, Saturday afternoon in ORU's conference home opener. It was the largest margin of victory in league play for the Golden Eagles since last season when ORU defeated the Ladies, 79-35, on Feb. 2. The Golden Eagles are 8-6 overall and 1-2 in Summit League action, while the Ladies fall to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in league play. ORUJason Posted January 4, 2009 Share Posted January 4, 2009 The ORU women's team came out with an attitude in yesterday's game against Centenary. They were pressing and trapping and contesting every pass and Centenary struggled to even get a shot off all day long. They allowed only 14 points in the first half because they're defense was stifling. I was extremely impressed. Jerry said on the radio broadcast that he expects to continue this approach for the rest of the season. This team will present a challenge defensively for every team they play from here on out, if the women keep the get-after-it attitude that they showed yesterday!
