Old Titan
I just got in from church - not sure how it happened, but ORU trailed 6-0 after two, before scoring three runs with two outs in the top of the third. 6-3 Jackrabbits, headed to the bottom of the third. Old Titan
Lamontagne (sp?) is pitching in relief for the Golden Eagles. SDSU scored all six of their runs in the first off Kelly Minnasale (sp?), but it wasn't exactly batting practice: two walks, two hit batters, and an error at third resulted in all the runs scoring on just two base hits... Old Titan
In the bottom of the fourth, SDSU has a solo home run and scores two more runs on a double error by Mitchell in centerfield (over ran a bloop single, then bobbled it again fielding it). 9-3 'Rabbits as Rob Walton goes to the bullpen again. I'm not sure what we're doing on Saturday nights on these road trips, but we need to change it!
Old Titan
11-4 SDSU headed to the top of the 6th.
Old Titan
Good guys get a couple of runs back in top of the sixth, but leave the bases loaded. 11-6 SDSU headed to the bottom of the sixth...
Old Titan
ORU trails 12-8 in the bottom of the eighth.
Old Titan
It's a final: SDSU 12, ORU 8. ORU takes the series, 3-1. Golden Eagles are on the road again Tuesday at Kansas.
tmh8286
Good road trip overall, but too bad we couldn't get the sweep. Yesterday we looked pretty dominating. That's the funny thing about baseball - a team can look unbeatable one day, and get clobbered the next. That can even happen in a double-header - dominate the first game and lose the second. We weren't necessarily expecting sweeps at either of the last two roadies - and we didn't get 'em!
theeagleman5
Bummer.....oh well, SDSU is obviously a scrappy bunch...too bad they are not in the Summit Tourney in 3 weeks...would like to have seen how them in it because they are clearly one of the top 4 squads in the league....Let's get KU on Wednesday!..... 89rabbit
Story about Sunday's game (and more): http://www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... 002/SPORTS Jacks recover from three defeats to topple Summit League powerhouse Oral Roberts Terry Vandrovec • tvandrovec@argusleader.com • May 5, 2008 BROOKINGS - For the South Dakota State baseball team, this first series against Oral Roberts, the most dominant program in the Summit League, wasn't about results. Nonetheless, it sure was nice to get some. The Jackrabbits bounced back from three losses on Saturday by putting up six runs in the first inning en route to a 12-8 victory Sunday afternoon at Erv Huether Field. It was the latest in a string of noteworthy wins for SDSU, the first against a team garnering votes in the NCAA Division I top 25, and just the 25th regular-season conference loss for the Golden Eagles since joining the Summit League in 1998. ORU has claimed 10 consecutive conference titles, had 14 players drafted by big league clubs over the past three years and is coached by Rob Walton, who will lead the college national team this summer. . . . Old Titan
Very classy quotes from the SDSU players and coaches. How are we ever supposed to develop a heated rivalry with these guys when they're so stinkin' nice?
