Mike Minyard Posted April 25, 2008 Share Posted April 25, 2008 UMKC unveils plans for new on-campus soccer stadium By DAVID BOYCE The Kansas City Star When UMKC’s first women’s soccer team plays its inaugural home game in the fall of 2009, players will do it at a new stadium on campus. Thanks to a $5 million donation, the largest ever to the UMKC athletic program, the men’s and women’s soccer teams will play at Stanley Durwood Stadium. Plans for the new stadium were announced during an on-campus news conference Wednesday morning. The donation comes from the Durwood Foundation. The project will be completed in the spring of 2010. The facility, which will be adjacent to Swinney Recreation Center, will include locker rooms, a concession area and a four-lane track.
