John Farrell used to adore little Matt Holliday. Never changed diapers or drew babysitting duty, but as a pitcher at Oklahoma State, Farrell would show Baby Holliday how to toe the rubber, how to spot the curveball, how to spit seeds. And here was Farrell, 25 years later, calling for his pitcher to pick Holliday off first base in a critical situation of Game 2 of last year's World Series. On Friday, before taking his turn as guest speaker at the John A. Ferguson Diamond Dinner benefiting ORU baseball, Farrell recalled fond memories of his long relationship with the runner-up for the 2007 National League Most Valuable Player.
