tmh8286
" . . . Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." With a little baby came light, salvation, hope and joy to a dark world. My prayer is that His light shines in your heart this Christmas. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Stl VU Fan
"The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." God's blessings upon you and yours as well. Just curious: what translation is that? My bible (NRSV) says, "overcome" rather than "understood".
tmh8286
Just curious: what translation is that? My bible (NRSV) says, "overcome" rather than "understood". NIV version. I checked on line for a place where I could cut and paste the scripture, and found http://www.bible.com It's an amazing resource.
