ORU Eli
who is Gardner Webb? And if they beat Minnesota at Minnesota, does this mean we have a good chance at pulling off a win against a Big 10 opponent or is GW way underrated? vcboy2000
Gardner Webb is a small christian school on the out-skirts of Charlotte, NC. They have a veteran laden team, and took UNC- Chapel Hill to the wire this year in UNC's home opener. I think UNC beat them with a 3 pointer with 2 seconds remaining. Roy Williams said that even though their name is unknown among the larger schools, their depth of experienced players make them a formidable apponent. He also said that he would rather have a home-opener with a relatively well-known school that was not as good as advertised than a unknown that was just as good if not better. I don't know much about Minnesota's squad, but they got beat by a really good team in Gardner Webb.
orumom
I know the Tu record is hard to believe, especially since the TW gave them more pub for barely winning against a D2 school than they did for us solidly winning over a D1 school the same day. VUFreak
In the game against Gardner-Webb, Minnesota was without Vincent Grier, an outstanding player in the BIG TEN. Grier averaged 17.9 points as a junior and was named to the BIG TEN First Team by the coaches and Second Team by the Media. He was placed on the BIG TEN Preseason First Team Grier missed the game with a broken hand, but has now returned a couple weeks ahead of what was expected. In that game, Maurice Hargrow and Spencer Tollackson each score 21 points and Adam Boone (North Carolina transfer) added ten. Minnesota is a very solid team, and will likely be a top-half BIG TEN team. TheFreak www.ValpoHoops.com
