TrueBlue82 Posted July 17, 2007 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Northwest League Pitcher of the Week Jeremy Hefner, Eugene 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 1 GS, 7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 13 SO Hefner has proved in his short career that he can be effective coming out of the 'pen or starting a game. After entering his first three games as a reliever, Hefner shined in his first professional start on the Fourth of July, scattering two hits and striking out five in four innings of work. He came out of the 'pen in his next outing four days later and blanked Vancouver for three innings. The Tulsa, Okla., native has given up just one run and seven hits in 12 1/3 innings this season. Note: In Jeremy's next start after the POW selection, he picked up his first win of the season, pitching 5 innings of scoreless ball, allowing 2 hits. He struck out 6 and walked none. In 17.1 innings of short-season A ball (the NWL starts after the college season), Jeremy has a sterling 0.52 ERA, a 1-0 record, and a 27:3 strikeout/walk ratio.
