ORUTerry
Brother vs. brother in December by BILL HAISTEN World Sports Writer 7/13/2007 IT'S OFFICIAL. In the Dec. 20 All-College Classic at Oklahoma City's Ford Center, the Oklahoma State and Oral Roberts basketball teams meet for the first time in 10 years. For weeks, it had been rumored that the Sean Sutton-coached Cowboys and Scott Sutton-coached Golden Eagles might be matched in the All-College. Tim Brassfield, executive director of Oklahoma City's All Sports Association, confirmed this week that the deal is done. OSU and ORU will clash in the 8:30 p.m., ESPN-televised contest. For the 6 o'clock game, an opponent for Oklahoma has not been determined. The All Sports Association has sponsored the All-College games since 1957. "With the game involving the Sutton brothers, we thought it was a unique event," Brassfield said. "It's a significant in-state event." Eddie Sutton refused to schedule ORU during his final eight seasons as the O-State coach. Credit Sean Sutton for being the catalyst on the All-College arrangement. Mindful that ORU rarely gets television exposure, Sean did a good deed for Scott by pitching the brother-vs.-brother idea to ESPN. The Cowboys lead the series 15-4. When they last met, on Dec. 2, 1997, OSU outlasted the Golden Eagles 73-66 in Stillwater. In January 1997, Bill Self's final ORU squad upset the Cowboys 71-60 in Tulsa. OSU's entire 2007-08 schedule is expected to be released next week.
